Why are there so many Seamaster dissimilar watches
I am starting to really appreciate this brand, but one thing I don't get is why there are so many models called Seamaster. I get slightly different variations, but a dress watch on a strap and a tool dive watch in the same years period? Not to mention the sub categories. would ove to know abit more.

I also have this thought. Omega's lineup is confusing. But I guess with a brand that old you always have problems like that. Kinda like Rolex putting "Oyster Perpetual" on almost every watch they make.

Omega has decided to make many Limited Edition or specialty badged Seamasters for a couple of decades now, likely to drive sales. They do the same thing with the Speedy

They could drop the Seamaster name from the 300MP, Aqua Terra, Planet Ocean, Ploprof, and keep it for the heritage Seamaster 300. Put it is what it is. If I were running Omega, I would change a lot of things.

The term "Seamaster" was introduced in 1948 simply to indicate a line of watches that would be more water-resistant than the ones Omega made through the Second World War. If you think about it as analogous to Rolex using the term "Oyster", regardless of what specific model it's used for, you have the idea.
