GMT bezel problem!

Was messing with my bezel earlier today and noticed at first it only wanted to turn counter clockwise. I couldnt remember if the bezel on these were bi directional or not so after checking on here I realized I may have a problem. I tryed to move the bezel in both directions and after a while it did but it only seems to have the "ratcheting click" about half the time in either direction. About a year ago I had the watch polished by my local AD and had to end up taking it back because the bezel was stuck. After I got it back the second time I believe I only checked in in the counter clockwise direction and never gave it any more thought. Do you guys think that is assembled wrong or is this just normal? If something is wrong, what does this sound like the problem may be? Thanks in advance! Jon

Take it back. Maybe there's dirt lodged underneath? Or,

put it under running warm water and try rotating it in both directions. Maybe that'll do the trick. Otherwise, take it back to the Rolex AD and insist that they make it right.

it could be the spring that controls the bezels movement...have you tried taking off the bezel and re-attaching it?? I imagine it could just be missaligned.

I would let a Rolex certified "watchmaker" aka "service tech" do that. Let them >>>

F'k it up, not the owner of the watch. Liability. Liability.

it really is quite an easy thing to do. in fact I believe there is a tutorial somewhere here on the forum. I remove the bezel from my LV to change inserts all the time...and I have encountered times where it just didnt click in right..and got snagged...so I removed the bezel and re-attached it and viola...perfect smooth movement....you just have to be careful...i guess Im one of those..why pay someone when you can do it yourself people...I guess Im insane for working on my own mercedes too.

Yeah, you're a maniac ... LOL.

I used to do the same with the Seiko divers that I used to own. However, looking at what the repair prices are for Rolex, I tend to be reluctant to do anything on mine except take the bracelet off and put on a NATO strap {yeah, I use NATOs and Zulus on my GMT MAster II} because if I "screw it up" then there'll be an expensive repair.

If you feel comfortable doing it and have had success, then good for you.

Most Dealers with a watchmaker on staff can have this fixed, usually with a new click spring, in just a few minutes....

............. And they shouldn't charge more than a few dollars....... some will do it for free.......
