new tablet to replace Dell Laptop

Chaps I have an old Dell Lattitude cup: 7280 i7 -7600u @2.80ghz 16gig ram

running windows 10 pro.

shipping date ; 20 DEC 2017

It's getting on a bit and it's a tad clunky now. Plus I pretty much killed the battery by inadvertently leaving it on when I went on the last world cruise. (I thought I might need to remote access it.

Anyhoo. I'm looking to replace it with a tablet & keyboard.

I want
a, reduce size
b,reduce weight
c, Youtube, general browsing
d, light/basic use only of XL, Word , outlook
e, Gmail & Google
f, finger sensor
g keyboard c/w touchpad
h, various apps as per the normal andriod mobiles
(I courently have a Pixel 8 but that won't hang around much longer as Pixel mobles battery life is dreadful for everyday use)

I don't want
a, play games

I've reduced it to

Samsung S10+ (ticks more boxes for me but I worry about microsoft intergration)

I've watched plenty of YT video's but they all focus on nonsense such as drawing and games and 'home' stuff . They don't seem to properly check compatibility of microsoft business type use

Has anyone got real world use with Samsung tablets with microsoft software (please don't recommend open office etc )

Also if I've missed any please add to the list

TIA

What about the Apple iPad Air? I switched over to the evil empire 6yrs ago and never missed a beat. I have a MacBook Pro, but am told they all do the same thing. I use a Magic Keyboard and mouse with it and it works great. And I use all my Microsoft Office products on it with my 365 subscription and everything works great. I expect there are less expensive options, but thought I’d at least bring it up. Let us know what you end up.

new tablet to replace Dell Laptop

When I was still working, we had a department that rated all available devices on the market. That’s what their full time job was. And that’s how we would classify them as either approved or not approved for corporate use. Unfortunately, I don’t have access to any of that information anymore since I retired.

I went ahead and bought one in any case. I put it on my daughters account as she has an extra 7% discount through her work :-)

For what you want to do, you couldn't hardly go wrong. You made a good choice. I'm sure it will meet your needs.

I think the new Mac mini is such as great deal. I believe it is 599 USD.

I hope, it was slightly bigger than expected but thats ok I'll get used to it but the Ultra sitting alongside it was way to big for my use and far to heavy which surprised me

My partner is Mac iphone/Ipad user but she's forever asking me "How do I do such and such....?"

After a few minutes of trying, I'm ready to throw the thing out the window. I've never seen touched or (tried to) use such an unfriendly confusing piece of technology. I simply hate the things as they seem to want to frustrate everything you want to do with them.. Their way of doing things defies all -or at least my- logic.. I think they were designed by a women and I can't work them out either: dummy:

Thanks but sadly not my cup of tea
