No one talks of George in the same breath as Max, Alonso, LEC, Norris etc. He's not a bad driver and not pedestrian, but not top tier. Look at all the f ups he's had in terms of crashes and red mist. For him to come into Mercedes and clean up as he did in his first year doesn't tell me more about him, but the decline of HAM. HAM said he was developing the car to save face. Losing a step happens to everyone, Father Time is undefeated. |

Alonso thinks george is pretty decent https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/a...4JKoghFPqR8vmN ….so what happened the second year where HAM cleaned up? HAM still declinng, saving face? Can you point me to the interview where ham said he was developing the car to save face, and in what context? His or mercedes? 2 very different things …f ups and red mist. Didnt a certain max have a fair few of those in his early years (and latter), leclerc too, norris has had a few this year, and alonso isnt shy of the mist either. …again, mercedes or ferrari wouldnt waste millions employing them if they didnt rate them….its not like george is selling many tshirts We can agree that father time is undefeated, all sportsman decline over time, its ineviatable…i just dont think hes declining as much as youre making out Always makes me laugh though…its been a common argument about how good hamilton has been over his career…people point to the fact sometimes his teammates beat him…. ….well yeh, because his teammates have been rather good. 3 world champions in rosberg button and alonso along with good young talent in his later career. Compare that with schumacher, verstappen….theyve had irvine, barichello, perez, albon…. Anyway, ill leave on that. Good to chat. Look forward to next season |

Apparently Yuki was almost not let into the country. He was not with the team and with his physio and wearing PJs. I guess authorities didn't believe he was an F1 driver and had to explain for 2-3 hours that he had already been in the US twice before for 2 races etc. etc. Interviewees are not allowed to have cell phones or make contact with anyone else whilst being interviewed during inspection so he couldn't get confirmation of who he was. Would have been a new twist if Dani RIC had come back to fill in for Yuki tonight!

I can't get the image out of my mind.
1.59m, 54kg, pajama-clad, slipper-shod, broken English, handlerless F1 driver... He said he was fortunate it was only 2-3 hours in isolation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Misunderstanding...?? - Did I miss something.. ie, a foreigner coming into a foreign country (whether he/she's been there before) and doesn't have his/her passport with them..

He could have just walked across the Southern boarder. Then have his private plane take him to LV. No worries :)

Is Red Bull in trouble by getting the rear wing so wrong for Vegas or is this a bit of gamesmanship by deception?
🚨| Red Bull stuck with wrong rear wing for Las Vegas GP 🇺🇸. — Red Bull Racing is struggling with a high-drag rear wing configuration at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, putting it at a disadvantage compared to rivals Mercedes and McLaren. — Max Verstappen finished 17th in second free practice, with Sergio Perez two places behind. GPS data shows Red Bull is up to 7km/h slower on the straights than the pace-setters. — Red Bull’s Helmut Marko acknowledged the issue, saying: “We don’t have another rear wing, a smaller rear wing, as we see it on our competitors. It would be more helpful, for sure.” — While Red Bull attempted to reduce drag by removing a Gurney flap, Marko confirmed they cannot fly in an alternative rear wing: “No.” — Beyond the rear wing issue, Marko highlighted other challenges: • On single-lap pace: “On the short run, we didn’t go out with a soft tyre. There were flashes of speed, but we just have to get consistency into it.” • On race pace: “The rear tyres were disappearing. We need more balance. On the single lap we can improve, but on the long run, the tyre wear is a problem at the moment.” — Despite the struggles, Marko remained optimistic: “Tomorrow is a different day. You maybe saw it a lot of times. People will be fastest on Friday or Thursday, but it doesn’t mean that they are fast in the race. We will, for sure, make a reasonable step.” — Red Bull’s focus remains on whether Verstappen can clinch his fourth championship title this weekend. VIA: [motorsport] |

Great qualifying session and a true mix in the order. Extra special shoutout to Gasly willing that tractor to P3 in qualifying and after finishing the race in Brazil P3! Incredible job.
With the cold and slippery conditions, the driver clearly made the difference last night and besides Ferrari, most teammates were separated with Russell outclassing Hamilton yet again, VER over Perez (no surprise), previously mentioned Gasly over Ocon and PIA over Norris. It's a shame Colapinto went into the wall as he outqualified Albon again and you have to feel for the mechanics who have to put it all back together again (5 crashes in the past 2 races for that team). He'll also have to pass a medical test today before he's allowed to race because the impact was over 50Gs. I don't know what they told him at the airport, but Yuki was fantastic outqualifying Lawson and Perez by wide margins and only 2 spots behind Max. Interesting to hear that both McLaren's stalled out at 1:33 flats in both Q2 and Q3 while nearly everyone else improved, so that car doesn't have more to give this weekend. With long runs on Medium and Hard tires in the race, I can see the Ferrari's both possibly double podium with perhaps George as the Mercs look really good on long runs too. |
