I appreciate finer things. That, and from time to time, I like to reach out…for the people.

What about the digital art. Are NFT's still a thing of value?

I kindof like the banana and duct tape. Maybe it will become trendy and I start to tape over things in the house to fix them and call it art.

the buyer got a roll of duct tape, instructions on how to "install" a banana properly and the all-important certificate of authenticity, which means he theoretically can re-sell it to another imbecile

There is some appealing symmetry here.

Crypto = greater fool asset, with value mostly predicated on what someone else will pay. Utilized to acquire this “concept art” that is also almost literally nothing, absent a fool willing to pay…

Amplified here by the (alleged) fraud perpetuated by the buyer to obtain and enhance their share of the nothing they used…

If this was intentional by the buyer, I applaud him for it, even if (perhaps) he should be in jail.

This is a real banana?

I love the humor of it all. This art / visual combination is globally famous. FAMOUS!!!

In addition, it is something we can all have within our homes*. Enjoy :)

I think it's brilliant, and would have bought it if I could afford it. To me, the banana represents the ripening of youthful experience and the duct tape to me is an indication of the impermanence of that experience, and how what is important one day may not stand the test of time tomorrow.

I'm man enough to admit that I teared up when I first saw this.

I was hoping that the price of the piece would cover the cost of changing out the banana and duct tape every so often.

Holy smokes … that’s deep.

All I see is a banana and duct tape, and 6.2 million up in smoke

I just came here to say that my interpretation of the banana 🍌 is the same as yours but the duct tape represents the societal constraints placed on youth that doesn’t allow the limitless creativity to flow from said youth to adulthood and therefore restricts the true impact of want one may be or become.

Sheesh. Maybe I'm just in an emotional mood, but this is the second time today that this forum has caused a bit of an eye watering response...

You love music Steven, you know how most, but not all, original music comes from the Yutes... with rare exceptions does truly great new music come from someone over 30.

Mechanism to access the value of crypto without tax implication.

The price is more or less irrelevant as is this piece of art.

True for 2024 income-based taxes.
However, wherever the buyer domiciles (either personally or corporately) there is a personal property ad valorem tax to be reckoned with.

Time to mod the Comedian...

First the fruit:

Now the tape:

We need colors. The boring TT yellow/gray has been overdone!

What would Andy Warhol do?

Yeah, and to think he coulda enjoyed various influential benefits and bought art from Ol' Joe's son instead

ROI on that is epic. :)
