How did your collection change this year?

What did you add to your collection this year and what left?

Added:
Sinn u50 - a great daily beater watch. Easily my most worn watch of the year and it still looks flawless because of the tegimenting treatment. It’s so hard to beat the comfort and lack of worry with this watch.

Armin Strom Mirrored Force Resonance Piece Unique - for me, it’s the perfect combination of engineering, craftsmanship and design. Very happy with how this piece turned out.

Kudoke Infinity - we were in Chicago and my wife loved the aventurine dial and high grade of craftsmanship with this watch relative to her previous pieces. I like it a lot too, although my personal favorite Kudoke models are those with the engraved day/night indicator.

Rolex Datejust on Jubilee - picked this up for my wife as she wanted a low stress daily. However, she wants to sell it because she likes her Kudoke more. But, I think I might just add a few links and keep it.

D1 Milano - It looks like a drawing and is a lot of fun for the price point!

Sold:

Daniel Roth Chronograph. Awesome watch but there was a lot of overlap with my Armin Strom Resonance. Couldn’t see myself picking it up over the Resonance.

Hublot Integral in black ceramic. I liked this watch a lot but it doesn’t fulfill a specific purpose in my collection.

Tudor BB54. Bought this early this year for my wife but she upgraded to something else so it hit the chopping block! Personally, I think these are a great way to scratch the vintage itch without the stress.

Grand Seiko SBGE275. Really nice watch and was basically my main piece for about 6 months while I lived in Mexico but it fell into the same bucket as my Hublot.

Breguet Tradition Retrograde Seconds. Pretty redundant with the addition of the Armin Strom.

Rolex 5513 from 1966 - Bought this originally for my dad but he never wore it and I didn’t feel comfortable wearing something so old in Vancouver where it’s quite wet and humid.

Really to much to list. I have refocused on divers and am enjoying the Tudor FXD's in black and blue. Always a Submariner and for some reason I now own six Panerai watches.

Sadly it was the Silver Snoopy. Legibility was an issue for me

I loved everything about that watch, except I couldn’t easily read the time

That's a toughie, nice watch, though.

Well, now something can take its place.

Well, I know this is borderline heresy, but I sold off what is effectively the grail part of my collection - a Blue 5500 VC Chrono, White 15510 AP, and a DD40 Silver Motif. Gone, gone and gone....like 3 weeks ago.

IDK, really, I just somewhat decided I no longer "needed" them. I did wear my 5500 quite often, the DD40 I only wore around the house and I probably only wore the AP out in public maybe 5 times in the year and half or so that i owned it. The DD while in the right light is a rock star watch. In less than ideal conditions is is not very contrasty and not the most legible. The AP is honestly one of my favorite watch, but I looked like a disco ball on the wrist, very flashy and super scratch prone. Ultimately I just decide I didn't want that much $ tied up in watches that I don't wear that often.

For the immediate I went the other way (so to speak) and just received, like literally 5 minutes ago, a Bel Canto. Let me get that sized up and I will have pics up shortly.

Sold a Patek 5146G.

Acquired nothing.

I'm OK with it.

Will probably sell 2-3 more watches in 2025.

Might acquire 1 watch -- we will see.

Nothing out last year, or the year before, or this year. Almost did trade to get an MB&F, but thankfully the better part of my emotions 'won' (my mom passed...). So nothing sold. As for what arrived...

Added: Cartier Santos large blue dial.
Had wanted this piece since it was released. Ended up getting other watches (Omega Worldtimer, Longines Zulu Time, the Omega Swatch and Blancpain Swatch in that 4 year timeframe. I finally decided to pull trigger on this for a good deal NIB. Got it in May.

Breitling Navitimer 43 black dial. This was unexpected. I was in Japan 2 weeks for vacation in October and well, if you’ve been to Japan, watch Heaven. I didn’t have any intention on making any watch purchases after the Cartier. However, I toyed with the idea of a Grand Seiko. But I ended up at this AD where this piece was at the most insane deal you can think of BNIB. Girlfriend talked me into it actually. The rest is history.

3861 Sapphire Speedy and Pelly LHD out

226570 White Dial Explorer II in.

No regrets, although I do plan on rebuying a Speedy once I get two daughters weddings in one year in the rear view mirror. It will be either the white dial or the moonshine on rubber.

Bought a few Casios (three G-Shocks, one Royale and a John Candy), and gave a vintage birth-year Seiko Weekdater with B&P to my best friend for his 60th.

Reverso tribute duo and submariner out.

Moser endeavor, reverso tribute chronograph, and VC 4520 in.

One more comes tomorrow, but I’m counting that as a next year piece.

2024 was an interesting year for me as I started to look for dressier pieces on a strap as well as a new love for manual wind chronos! I also started to gravitate towards white metals (SS,WG & PT)

Removed nothing.

Added :

- Vacheron Corn de vache in SS, was a surprise as I walked into the boutique on my birthday to get a bracelet resized and they had a new piece that came in that day

- Vacheron Traditionnelle 38mm in PT. I always wanted a 38mm Traditionnelle in white metals but the White Gold variant has been discontinued for a while. In the end, I found someone local selling a PT version with the slate dial with time on the factory warranty remaining.

- Moser Streamliner Centre Seconds Purple Haze. I have always wanted the Streamliner but never found the colour I wanted. With this year’s release, my local AD said it will be close to impossible to get one in 1.5 years. For some reason during an earlier trip to Zurich, I casually asked my AD if there was any chance of getting the Purple Haze with no expectations. To my surprise, she called in the last week of November and asked if I wanted one and I immediately travelled to pick it up!

- Chopard L.U.C 1860 Lucent Steel Salmon Dial. I always wanted a small seconds dress watch below 38mm in steel. With the release last year, my local AD said that it was a boutique exclusive and the Chopard boutique hinted that a prior purchase was necessary to even get on the list for one. After picking up the Purple Haze in Zurich, I walked next door to the Chopard boutique and casually asked if the L.U.C 1860 was available. Lo and behold, they had one for a customer that was only available to pick up next year and another piece coming at the end of December. The boutique manager then made some checks and decided to allow me to buy it there and then!

- Moser Streamliner Perpetual Calender. After collecting the Purple Haze, I casually went to my local AD and saw the Perpetual Calendar in Salmon. I however preferred the older grey / slate layout and asked if they had that and they managed to find the last piece. I decided to add it to the collection as I don’t have an integrated bracelet perpetual calendar in steel.

- Lange 1815 Chronograph WG. After picking up the Corn de vache, I realised I enjoyed looking at the movement and was wondering why I didn’t explore manual wind chronos earlier. I always wanted a Lange but never got round to it as I didn’t know which one to start with. One day, I went to the boutique, and the manager said since I was wearing the Corn de vache, I should consider the 1815 Chronograph or the Datograph. It took me a bit of thinking but I settled on the 1815 Chronograph and I couldn’t be happier for my first Lange.

- 5712/1a, 5164g, 26240ST Blue

Overall I think 2024 was an interesting year as many of the new pieces I picked up are a lot more wearable to the office without too many people noticing. Being on straps, I can also share them with my partner unlike bracelet watches!

For 2025 I hope to continue the chrono collection by adding a Patek 5172g, Breguet 3237, Roger Dubuis Hommage or Sympathie but it seems to be very challenging to find!

Happy New Year to all TRF folks!

Impossible to beat the 321 for legibility. The contrasting dials of the snoopy are similar to the Daytona line up, The hands easily get lost.

Room for one more

My wife upgraded from a 29 years DJ to her dream PP.

I added a neo-vintage VC chronograph. I enjoy the smaller size of the older dress chronos. The dial of VC chrono is just class (similar to the CdV), and the Lemania 2310 based movement is amazing.

I also switched from one Ming to another. Enjoying the new one so much more. Here they are before I moved one of them. Can you guess which one I moved and which one I added?

How did your collection change this year?

It was a quiet year transactionally.
One trade to get a DJ TOG using a vintage DJ with engine turned bezel.

Mentioned this yesterday in another thread - I've been trying to find an Aquanaut at MSRP but likely a fool's errand

Same.

And they were old when I got em.

I enjoy wearing my watches but have little interest in many new ones.
