I’ve got Cubitus

It was inevitable. I know the 5822P has been polarizing since it was announced in October. Yeah, it’s square and looked big and clunky in the renders. Does that mean that the watch was “no bueno?” It depends. All I can say is that those pictures don't do it justice. Everything changes once you see it in the metal and put it on your wrist. At least, for me, that was the case.

Sure, square watches are an acquired taste, and comparisons are inevitable. I mean, how many shapes for a watch are out there that actually work? Not many.

I’ve been beating the Aquanaut and Nautilus drum for so long that the Cubitus changes things in a big way. It's just different but similar. Patek's DNA is there. So, regardless of your preferences—circle, oval, square, or triangle—the Cubitus is a very well-crafted piece with a new movement. It has almost 100 more parts than those found in the 5712.

Try to see it in the flesh next time you cross a Patek boutique. Maybe it will surprise you, or it may reassure your disdain. The best part about the watch world is that there will always be “different strokes for different folks.”

Here are some pics for you: heavy pics and some side-by-side with other watches. Oh, and I really like the new box, too.

Enjoy, or not:

Congratulations! I don't think there is even a need to justify why you bought a watch you like. I totally understand the appeal of this watch and glad you got it. Enjoy and wear in good health!

Congrats man I love it. I was really excited about this watch since day one. Once I finally saw it I liked it even more. I think it’s the most underrated watch right now.
Got the two tone and absolutely love it. Might pick up a platinum or some other version down the road. Appreciate the pictures with the other watches. That Vc is amazing!

Congrats and pleased for you OP.

Not sure it would get much wrist time if my collection was like yours, but that just me!

Wear in the best of health, Niki

By far the best of the line. I find the others unappealing but the 5822 is nice. GREAT collection and enjoy!

Thanks a million for the nice comments. Second day with it and so far very good. Also, it’s surprisingly comfortable. Nautilus level comfortable.

Oh, and did I mention that since my eyesight is not what it used to be, the big date is a welcome addition.

It looks great. I would probably put an alligator strap on such a nice watch though.

I like the green dial cubitus more but congratulations.
On a different note: the offshore in the picture sits almost half forearm and looks huge. Can’t imagine how you wear it at the wrist

It’s not. Everything is done from a fresh perspective. For me, since I’ve been with the brand close to 15 years now, it’s a welcome addition. It changes things.
