Million Dllar Question
My AD told me if I want OP 36 (black-blue) wait time 6-12 months, if I want EXPLORER wait time 3-6 months.
Is it worth for wait and 1200 Euro MSRP? OP36 3230 CALIBER 6350 EURO EXPLORER 36 3230 CALIBER 7550 EURO I neeed your opinions and help make a decision. |

If it's worth it to you it's worth it. If it isn't it isn't. Personally I prefer the OP to the Explorer. Anecdotally it looks like I'm with the majority but this doesn't take account of production numbers or allocation bias. What's worth it for me won't necessarily be worth it for you. It depends on you, not me.

I have no idea what your idea of worth is, what watch do you want ? get what you want, that's where to worth is in any watch ... they are expensive commodities ..

Cost and wait time aside, it just comes down to which watch you prefer.

Pick the watch you'd rather be wearing 10 years from now.

I prefer the Explorer so that is my only factor in the choice.

You gave us tangible data alone.
A spreadsheet helps in that case. ![]() Advice needs more context when the only differentiators are cost and time. The watches are essentially the same. • What are your intangible values? • What watches do you have? • What is your ownership term? • Is it a choice for flipping within a month? Otherwise you're really asking us which model we like personally. For me: The name Explorer resonates. Oyster Perpetual sounds like the leftovers from a seafood dinner. Either/or. Both great watches and it comes down to what you want.

Million Dllar Question
Quote:
I own both, because I love both. Since getting the Explorer, I tend to grab it first, but it’s still new. Obviously, it was worth it to me. I am surprised the Explorer has a shorter wait time. I waited 10 months for mine. Get the Explorer! Keep in mind the Explorer bracelet has a more noticeable taper, that the OP’s bracelet does not. Some men find that slightly feminine. Since I am a female, it was not an issue for me. Kat Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

It all depends on which one you like the most. THAT is the one I would go for. The wait time would be a non-determining factor for me since it's only a matter of months. The price would be worth paying more for as well imo, if it's really the watch you want.
I guess the question I would have for you is......if all 3 watches were the same price and right in front of you to choose one. Which would you pick and enjoy wearing the most? |

I own the Explorer.
Fundamentally you are not asking a monetary or a chronological question, you are asking an aesthetic question. Make your decision based on that. |

Would choose the Explorer. Was debating a 41op or 40 Explorer and decided on Explorer. Wait time 2 months.

I do prefer the dial on the explorer. With the shortish wait time I would definitely go for the one you prefer more. An extra 3 months really not much. Have you had a chance to try both on? That might be the deciding factor for you since the bracelet is a little different.

Personally, I like the Explorer for sport and would also get an OP, with a different color dial, for sport and dress, too. Problem solved! |

If you do want just one “grail” watch do the explorer. The Mercedes hour hand is so associated with Rolex & the explorer does have a lot of history behind it. A one and done collection is awesome. Enjoy and wear whichever you choose in good health.

I find the Oysterlock clasp of the Explorer to be a significant upgrade from the Oysterclasp. That is the one major difference I'd expect other than the obvious dial and the taper that Kat mentioned.

Do you care more about the wait time, the money or the aesthetic? If it's the money, the OP is the clear winner. If it's the time, the Explorer is. And if it's the aesthetic it's up to you. Some will prefer the Explorer, some will prefer the OP.
