Rolex 118238 white dial batons vs Romans

Which white dial do you prefer Batons or Romans for model 128238. I'm having a hard time deciding. Any opinions appreciated.

Personal preference. I prefer stick markers.

On this one, sticks. On the 40mm I prefer Romans

Typo in my first sentence this is for reference 118238 model. Other references the styles are changed.

Romans for this reference. Gives more contrast to the white dial.

Since it's got the deconstructed Romans, I'd go for that. I like those more than the batons.

Romans (or diamonds)

My personal opinion a PM watch should not have lume.

I must ask, which it is, 118238 or 128238? You've mentioned both. I believe the Romans are different between the two.

Never cared for Romans. It makes the dial look too busy. Sticks.

It was a typo in my first sentence but the reference im curious for is 118238. I really like the looks of the Non-Lume minute and hour hands on the Roman dial better. In my opinion it looks more premium.

I was researching that in any lighting other than pitch black, they actually show up better. The light reflects off of the canted angles of the hands and you can tell time. From my research no one really mentions this aspect of the Romans functionality.

The batons the dial looks more opened up but its the same pattern all around. Some say batons are boring and the Romans are more exciting the way the light hits. So its a tough choice.

For me the batons just look more clean even though romans are more traditional on a DD.

I went with the batons because indices look cleaner and more casual.
The OG Romans look a bit busy on 36mm Day-Date dials.

That's a nice looking Rolex. I went to my local jewelry store and tried 36mm and 40mm. Seems the 36mm is more comfortable.

The first of the two pictures are 36mm size. The third picture is 40mm size. On my wrist they all seem to me similar. Any opinions on the fit which one fits me better is appreciated.

Romans, I like busy dials and don’t like simple dials unless they are stone dials…

Your wrist could handle both, up to you which fit you prefer most. Personally, i love the original size of 36, for both fit and watch proportions.

Thank you. My impressions it seems the 36 is more comfortable on the wrist. Feels like you are wearing the watch. With 40mm feels like the watch is wearing you. Also noticed you don't see the bracelet as much is mostly all dial when you look at it. That's a really special part of the watch is the president bracelet.

In terms of value 36mm can be bought for around 1/2 the price of 40mm.

Too bad that dial is no longer available on a current DD. Looks really good.
