Daytona Poll…. If choosing only one
If choosing only ONE Daytona in a 6-8 piece Rolex collection that would also include all modern…GMT, OP41, DJ, SUB, SD, couple DD40’S…

Tough one, both amazing.
I think I would go with the 6263. And possibly not for the best reasons. I feel like the Platona comes across as a "rich guy" watch, while the Big Red comes across as a "rich guy watch for a guy who knows watches." Yeah, silly reason, I know. In other words, I feel like the vintage Daytona is a bit cooler. Either way, whichever you choose between these two and you're coming up a winner. |

6263. Platona is great but personally cant stand brown bezel and subdial rings

I'm not a Daytona expert at all, and I love the Platona, but that 6263 is pretty much perfect! You can't lose either way.

My favorite Daytona would be my 116508, but it I were to have only one Daytona in my collection, it would be the 126500. The stainless steel feels so sleek and svelte, it is a pleasure to wear.

If meant as a trophy piece to admire and wear rarely, then the 6263. Otherwise, for regular day to day life, the 126506.
Good luck with the choice! For me, the 126506. But if I had 8 other Rolexes, the 6263 could be more tempting. |

A call that can’t be wrong whatever you chose, both watches polar apart, the Platinum weighs a ton, the 6263 much lighter and slightly smaller ..
for me when I tried on Platona at my AD the ice blue was incredible, an amazing piece, where’s 6263 historically is an incredible Daytona to buy … in your position I would change my mind daily ..

With your collection I’d go the vintage route and wear it on days when you want to feel something a bit more special on your wrist

That's a tough one.
I think that if I owned the 6263 I would rarely wear it. Taking it out on only special occasions or just to admire. Whereas with the 126506 I'd feel more free to wear it just about anywhere anytime due to it's modern construction. 126506 is my choice. |

Platona for me. I know money doesn’t match but I’d rather have both daytonas and one dd40!

You should get the platinum Daytona and wear the heck out of it for a month before selling it again!
![]() I think I am of the mindset mentioned here that for daily wear, the platinum works well, but perhaps in a larger collection like yours, having an awesome vintage Daytona would be great for special occasions. This is kind of like "should I get the GT3RS or the F8" dilemma. ![]()

I have a 6263 big red silver and it can be a daily. I also have a 126505 rose gold for the modern feel. I love both. If you have a chance to get an excellent 6263 that’s tough to pass on. As stated above there is a cool factor that just hits different from a modern watch. So long winded answer and vote for 6263.
