need a really quick response from you please :)
ok...I need your advice...[and yes I have a sickness...but that's why I like it here]...obviously as with all these types of questions I will ultimately do what I "feel" in my heart....but part of the process is asking the community that surrounds you and shares your passion so your indulgence would be appreciated!!! I have to do all this within the next couple of hours hence the haste!!!!
There is a dealer...absolutely great guy...in town...I negotiated with him to swap my Milgauss for an IWC pilot and some cash from him... BUT..he also has an SS white Daytona...and if I wanted that he would take my Milgauss (which I do not wear much) and he has stated AUD$6000.....US$5,555 Now..I am going in today to give him the Millie...he has already let me have the IWC.....BUT I could give him the IWC back and do the Daytona deal Now...when I put the Daytona on in his shop I fell in love..no doubt about it... Daytona he has is an 06...BUT it has no papers...will get me a box..but can't provide the card...it has been authenticated and checked..sent to RSC by him...papers are with it. So..my options: 1. Keep the IWC (like it..nice Chrono...pretty casual) - give him the Milgauss and take AUS$500 plus 2 straps for my PAM 2. Give it him back...plus the Milgauss plus AUD$6000 and get the Daytona...which of course...I want ultimately...but should I wait....save and buy one new in time..... Thanks all

Hmmmmm.
I too like the IWC pilot, I tried on a RG Big Pilot at a local retailer, and loved it! Now, for me, I would go option one. I would buy new SS Daytona off the For Sale Section, from one of our illustrious sellers when I'm ready Rob.

I voted for keeping the IWC but just because, if you're having a hard time deciding, to me that would say hold on to the additional money it would take to get the Daytona at least for now (until you're sure you want a Daytona). Anyway good luck with your decision!

Any of the options involve keeping the Millie?

Joey....that's a tough call....think you are also about to blow a lot on another - possibly smaller watch - sometime in the near future......is cash a problem?....if not then the choice is yours...personally I would take the Milli and the IWC with me to the shop....have all three on the counter and listen to your heart.....look at them all together......you'll know if the Daytona floats your boat enough then, I'm sure

Hey Dalip, tha's a dilemma!
OK, just to put costs into perspective... AU$ is absolutely rocketing ahead, hit US$0.93½ yesterday. So if you bought a Daytona from one of the honest and reliable sellers here on TRF, (for example Tempoking or DavidSW) just add about 10% to their US prices... that should cover postage as well. So if you need to add $6K to get a Daytona, this values your Milgauss at about $4-4.5 K... BUT, at the end of the day, who cares? After reading your post again, I know which you want... and I think it's the Daytona... you'll end up flipping the IWC eventually to satisfy that hunger!

Dalip, as John said above, consider about stronger AU$,
and perhaps newer complete daytona from US for maybe couple hunders (AU) more? But if you cant wait, get that daytona IMO recent service paper is the same as the warr. card Good luck with the choice m8. |

Get what speaks to you. I've flipped IWC's before because ultimately, they just were not as "classic" as my Rollies. Get the Daytona!!

If you feel you can depart from the AUD$6000 without any bigger problem, I say go with the Daytona.
I think this says it all; "Now...when I put the Daytona on in his shop I fell in love..no doubt about it..." Good luck! Cheers, Joe |

Hi Dalip,
You've obviously fallen in love with the Daytona.....then that's exactly what you should get. Get rid of the IWC and Milgauss - both of which I personally really don't care for. With the current strength of the Aussie Dollar against the Greenback, any deal with DAVIDSW would be an outright winner for you. Tell me about it - I saved like NZ$6500 on my 2 recent purchases from DAVIDSW - that's like one extra Rolex virtually FREE!!!

I'd get rid of the Millie and keep the IWC ; the extra money on the Daytona w no papers seems over the current market . Sure you will be able to find a BNIB 116520 at list price and not pay what seems to me like a "premium" very soon near you if you badly wanted one

In addition I wouldn't be 100% happy without the card/certificate, I'd get the daytona with one...but that's me. Once you have it it's very unlikely you'll flip it for something else. If you take the IWC you'll still be dreaming about the daytona....obviously you are not mad for the Milgauss. Good luck with the choice. |

Dalip, I assume you've made a decision by now but IMO, I'd go for that Daytona IF you are sure you love it!
If you take the IWC, I think you'll regret it and still be thinking about the Daytona....you're obviously not crazy about your Milgauss anymore so no doubts in moving that one. Another option would be to sell the Milgauss outright and just save to make up the difference for the Daytona which you could purchase from one of our dealers here, with box and papers, and possibly at a better price then the one you're being offered. |
