Will ROLEX bring TUDOR to North America..?

I had heard rumors/hints/allegations/lies that this was going to happen eventually but with the incredibly weak dollar I doubt it.

Anyone think or know anything?

Rolex announce at the last Basel that Tudor would again be sold in the USA.

I hope Tudor will be back in the USA, and from what I have read on here Tudor's are available in Canada so they are sold in at least part of North America . . .

I would reason that the weak dollar makes it more likely that TUDOR will be reintroduced in the USA. WHY you ask? Because as ROLEX prices continue to edge up and up more and more Americans begin to look at less expensive Swiss watches or even SEIKO, CITIZEN and ORIENT from Japan. ROLEX needs a lower priced brand with the same high quality as ROLEX to compete for these value buyers. I don't think in today's tough economy that ROLEX can let these sales go elsewhere. Someone may buy a TUDOR and keep it or flip for a ROLEX if they like the TUDOR.

I know my recent experience in purchasing a TUDOR has increased the chance I will soon spring for a ROLEX. Based on my experience with TUDOR I would tell anyone to buy one if it fit their needs. I would also tell them to buy a ROLEX if they felt the need. I would not have said this in the past.

So TUDOR could grab some value buyers and generate both goodwill and sales for the ROLEX brand.

I think TUDOR is coming back, based on the interview I read with the head of sales. He said they would be serving all markets soon, it was a matter of getting the quality and quantity they need to re-enter all markets.

My globe might be out of date but I think Canada is part of North America. The largest part, I might add.

and this was the answer he got:



Question 7. Will there be increased distribution of Tudor models?
Yes, Rolex will be re-introducing the brand in all markets, but this may take a few years as they want to bring up production slowly; so as not to impact the quality.

They're already here in Canada, of course, always have been. My Rolex/Tudor AD is where I get all the Tudor catalogues I mail out.

My AD, who's usually on top of things, told me about 6 months ago that she'd been informed by the Rolex rep that they will indeed be re-introducing the Tudor line to the U.S. soon, however she couldn't define soon........
