Do you trim your NATO

So my wrist is 6.8 in.

I tend to wear a NATO on the 3rd to last hole.

I have too much tail hanging! I easily can get under the first metal keeper when I fold it back but do not have enough to keep it under the second metal keeper and I end up with the tail flappin in the wind... It drives me nuts, have any of you ever trimmed your NATO so it's just long enough to fit though to the top keeper but not require you to fold over at all???

If you whats the best way to trim? Do you use a flame, an iron or what to stop the threads from fraying?

My wrist is about 7 3/4" and a 300mm nato ensures I can fold the extra strap under both metal keepers. Not sure why I can use both with a bigger wrist and you can't with a smaller wrist.
One suggestion is to fold the extra strap back the opposite way so it's on the inside rather than the outside of the fold [hope this makes sense].
If you cut a nylon strap you can use a lighter to seal the frayed end but that can make it a bit thick. The best way, although not sure what tool, is to use a heated blade to cut and seal at the same time.
Kyle was looking into sourcing some shorter nato straps. I've been asking but haven't been able to find any.

My wrist is 6 3/8" and I ussually use the 2nd from the last hole for slightly loose wear and can feed through both
loops with some excess remaining. You should have more than enough to feed under the both oop with 6.8" wrist.
If not you can fold inward instead of outward.

FYI : I've seen the Leader (Dan Pierce) wearing his NATO without any problem.

Jeremy, you are a not tard.
I don't think you need to cut at all but if you want to cut and seal clean you can take it to your local alterations (of clothing) for neat job.

that's why I wear the 2 ring "Zulu" style..............the buckle is on the bottom of my wrist, I fold excess under the 2 rings, no worries. Try the 2 ring "Zulu"....................

I tried that, Bob. But the rings would move and the extra strap would come loose. Otherwise I'd have a hole stable of zulus.

I have just a tiny bit left which I like to fold back under the first metal keeper. I have a 7" wrist.

Cut it to size, shape the end and use a gas lighter to seal the cut.

I used an EXACTO knife. Heated the blade, then lightly pressed the edge on the band.

Makes a nice, clean cut! Don't breathe the fumes!
