second hand sea dweller
Hey guys, this is my first post, I'm thinkning of buying my first rolex. I saw this sea dweller a few days ago, looks real nice, what do you think?
Web site: http://www.watchtime.com.au/rolex.htm (scroll down to watch R211). This is a reputable second hand Rolex dealer in Melbourne. The watch does not have the original certificates. What things should i look out for? |

I can't really see all the lugs.
Best to go to the shop and see it for yourself. Pity it doesn't have the original warranty certificate or the, anchor, extension link and wallet/toolcase.

Watch looks fine but $5400 is very expensive for a 2000 watch,a brand new V case was sold on our forum for $5500.Being a almost ten year old watch I would ask if its been serviced if not thats going to cost you $500 plus. But when serviced you will have Rolex service papers thats almost as good as the original.

How often does a sea dweller need to be serviced?

Rolex recommends every five years, but watches that are not used for diving or just a very occasional dive, could go 7-8 years if watch was running fine and keeping good time. But any watch if its going to be used underwater would recommend a annual pressure check
My mistake but even at $4700 IMHO still expensive for a almost 10 year old watch.

I agree with Padi .... age is age ... the older a watch is, the more likely it is to die ....simple as that ....just like people ....even though if it has been serviced a 100times, it is like a 70yr old person getting one plastic surgery after another .... age is age ....so no need to pay so much for a used watch ... I would say $3500....
