I was finally was able to wear my new Railmaster
On December 30th, I received my Railmaster from fellow TRF member, xkalifornia (a great guy, by the way). It's the 36.2mm version. He bought it 6 months ago from an AD and provided me with "all" the paperwork and cards. The price was very right for an essentially new watch with 2 1/2 years of factory warranty left. After looking at several different Seamaster Aqua Tera watches, but had decided to focus on a Railmaster. So, when I got home from a Christmas Eve party, I saw xkalifornia's ad that he put up earlier that evening. I immediately contacted him and a series of e-mails and phone calls followed which culminated in deal a few days later. I have no problem with a watch that is the same size as my 1987 Rolex TT DJ 16013 which I love.
Unfortunately, although I could snap the bracelet together, it strangled my wrist (I figured that would happen based on my looking at other Seamaster watches at the local AD). So, I ordered a couple of extra links from my local AD. The AD called today and told me they had come in. I went over at lunch to picked them up. I installed one of the new links this evening and tried it on . . . perfect fit. Now I'll be able to see how accurate it's going to be based on my wear pattern. This Railmaster is growing on me . . .

Beautiful, congratulations!!!! It's elegance and simplicity reminds me of the older Airkings and Explorer 1.

BB&B had one on sale when they were closing their store here. It was a 39mm watch and I felt the dial was a bit big for me. Had it been a 36mm I would've grabbed it. Beautiful watch.

Thanks, fellows. If it wasn't for these forums and the crazies that inhabit them, I would probably just keep moving along with my 1987 TT DJ 16013 all nicely refurbished by the RSC recently. But, after hanging around these forums for a few months . . . well, I couldn't have just one Swiss beauty. However, I did want to get something a little different from my DJ without going the sport watch route. I still don't get the 40mm+ crowd . . . I appreciate how good looking some of the models are, I just don't get it.

The Railmaster looks great! When I saw a Railmaster for the first time I though it was plain and not contemporary looking enough. But over the years I've come to appreciate it's boldness, simplicity and retro flavour. It probably is one of the clearest dials that Omega has in its line-up.
In your last picture the dial looks almost brown in colour. That would be great if Omega actually made a brown dial for this watch. That would be the tipping point for me! |
