Submariner or Seadweller
Hi looking for advice I have at the moment a submariner and looking to upgrade. I work on fishing boats and other types of work boats as a skipper don't know wether to go for another submariner or should I up grade for the seadweller. Please let us know your thoughts.

Either one should suit you well, of course. I would go for the SD if you can find a nice pre-owned one (or even a new one still in a case somewhere but that's getting more rare).
Good luck and happy fishing!

Well if you're comparing between the Submariner 16610 and the Seadweller 16600 I'll take the 16600 on any day! I just prefered the non cyclops look on the Seadweller and the Submariner is just too common for me. JMHO. If I got to pick a sub, it would have to be the LV sub. So I'd say go for the Seadweller!

I'd go with the SD all day long...There is no comparison in my mind; I just love the "beefy" case and clean dial.

As above, if it were me I'd go with the SD 16600, I have the Sub 16610 too and find myself wearing the SD a lot more.

Personally, I prefer the Sub Date..
I do not believe that the SD is an "upgrade", it is essentially the same watch with a slightly thicker case to take more pressure at a deeper depth (that you can't go to) - but that's it. With that, it is slightly more bulky, smaller dial, and does not have the cyclops - which I find useful.. I only see the actual difference in use as a personal choice...

I tried on the SD but found the 16610 better suited for me.

Both are great
I used to be a Submariner fan over the SD however I have been won over by the SD. It is just slightly heaver and the bezel and crystal are thicker giving it more of a robust feeling. IMHO anyway. Either one though will suit your needs well.

There's a nice looking SD on the sales forum right now...

Both are great, but I personally find the Sub Date more comfortable.

IMHO- The SD had such a classy look. It is a substantial feeling tool and I love it! SD all the way! AND you will have the last of its kind...Either one will be a nice gift yourself though. It is a good problem to have. :)

I'm in the minority here but I'm not sure you can upgrade from a Sub unless you go to the LV with Maxi dial. That's what I have and I love it.

I think the SD is a slight upgrade especially if you like a more robust feeling watch. There are a couple of subtle differences that haven't been mentioned yet. 1) the bracelet links on the SD are polished on the sides vs satin on the Sub and 2) the SD has a full 5 links on the 6 o'clock side vs 4 1/2 on the Sub. On my 7 1/2 inch wrist the SD fits with the clasp more correctly centered than on the Sub I used to have.
Good luck in your search. You'll enjoy either one.

Not taking anything away from the Sub (classic, great, etc.) but I kind of think of the SD as an evolution of the Sub.

I'm kinda with Larry on this one as far as the SD being an "upgrade". True you have a deeper depth rating and an HE valve, but the movement is the same.
That it is sans cyclops does give a different look, perhaps more utilitarian? I'll give the LV fans a nod in that the maxi-dial/hand makes it a bit easier to read in less than ideal conditions, but again same movement. |

Hands down...the SD! I agree with the posts - there are a lot of Sub's out there. Granted you may never take advantage of the depth rating, IMO the watch stands out better. Either one ...you can't go wrong.
You need to go with the one that makes you smile. Good luck! |

Go with the Sea Dweller....I think it is an upgrade in the sense there are a lot less of them around. I have Sub owners all the time ask to look at and handle my SD.

I have both watches & either one is a good choice. I prefer to wear the SD more due to the fact that it is less common. With that said, the Sub is a bit more comfortable to wear due to its lighter weight + the cyclops helps a bit in seeing the date.
I would stick to a Sub if I were you. Just like Larry "Tools" said, "I do not believe that the SD is an "upgrade", it is essentially the same watch with a slightly thicker case to take more pressure at a deeper depth (that you can't go to)". |

Like them both--prefer the Sub myself--unless I was to be tempted with a DSSD.
