Seadweller

So, it seems like the old Seadwellers are getting harder and harder to find. Ever since they discontinued them, fewer and fewer people are putting them on the market. Without the warranty card/papers but includes everything else, what do you think is a fair price for it given it is in mint condition and is an F-series??

I've been buying up the SeaDwellers...........that is why the prices are going up. As far as your F-serial.........I would say $4,000-$4,200. That is here on the forum. Dealer cost will be more

So YOU'RE the one! Sweet collection Jason!

If you want a BNIB from an AD, I think you might find one at Baron & Leeds in Waikoloa HI. They had 2 just a few weeks ago.

In what does the seadweller differ from the submariner? Other than it's technical functions? As in appearance?

The seadweller has the escape gas valve, can withstand a deeper depth, and also does not have the cyclops on the crystal.

The case is a little bit thicker, isn't it?

Wow! Great collection you have there! I'm curious about the middle one, I'm not so educated in SD's so please humor me, was that red seconds hand installed after purchase by you, or did it actually come like that? I love it, and can't ever recall seeing a SD come out of the factory like that before.

I'm surprised the estimates are so low. What about with warranty papers?? Would that change the value that much??

Case is thicker, crystal is thicker, even the bezel is thicker. Here is one of my SDs next to my 14060M sub. Note the thickness of the bezel and the case. Also note how much higher the crystal rides above the bezel.

The SD is also just a little smaller in diameter

I bought it completely stock like the two outer models. I then sent it to a Rolex Certified watchmaker for a complete service, and had all three stock hands swapped out for Yachtmaster hands. (red second-hand and maxi minute hand)

Next, I sent it to Jack@IWW for a complete disassembly and PVD/DLC treatment. It was a very time consuming project, and it was rather expensive, but I think it turned out rather nice. It is 100% Rolex with the exception of the DLC coating.

Agree on all points, especially the smaller diameter. The SD feels more substantial on the wrist than the Sub (due to the slight additional weight) that I personally think feels really good. Yet due to the thicker crystal, it actually makes the dial appear smaller than the Sub when looking down on the watch and therefore almost gives the watch a smaller appearance than a Sub when on the wrist.

It was because of that smaller appearance that I just couldn't get over that drove me to flip my original SD for a SubLV. Cheers.

There is one here in Cincinnati at a dealer - it's been sitting there for awhile. I saw it in December and was in the other day and it was still there, couldn't believe it.

How much would you guys pay BNIB M-series seadweller 16600?? Or what do you think would be a fair price for it. I saw one at a dealer $6400 but I was thinking of talking them down.

I have no problems finding a SD at any of my local AD's. Since their stock is getting low, discounts are getting harder to come buy, they know some guy will come in and pay MSRP.

The SD is a fantastic watch, and it is a huge shame that they discontinued it, especially considering what they discontinued it for, no offence to the SDDS lovers. I am praying that the new ss subs are as awesome as the classic SD.

Agreed Tevor! It is such a shame that Rolex discontinued the SD. The SDDS just doesn't feel right on my wrist therefore I would probably never buy one. The SD on the other hand and its usability is fantastic. I probably would get that over a Sub date.

They made a lot of them, and they were all identical (plus or minus lug holes) for a long time. I think there are too many in the market for the prices to move substantially on used examples any time soon.

I bought mine to wear, not to flip, so I don't particularly care one way or the other on the price issue.

Good luck; the SD is a great choice.

I didn't get that far. The sales person wasn't the friendliest when I was there. I think I was interupting her lunch.

I didn't understand her when I asked if it was pre owned or new. The pricetag said $4,995, I think. I want to go back and get more info in the next few days.

I will try to get a price, serial number (series), and if brand new. I can post info here or pm me if anyone is interested.

Not likely new at that price. The retail is $6400. I didn't know there was any ADs in Manhattan Beach. I love that town though!
