Hi,I have the chance to buy this rare watch which I do not know too much about but really like it a lot.
There are no box or papers and the back is slightly damaged where someone has tried to open it without the correct tool.

Roughly what is it worth?

Thanks for any advice.

I don't think Rolex made a model called a pro hunter 66.

It is not a official Rolex model, it is just Rolex that has had PVD coating applied. It is not a rare Rolex, in fact, Rolex wont even service the watch if needed, it's basically a frankenwatch.

Isn't pro hunter a series of custom modified watches.. I believe Bill Clinton has one..
Yup not rare just more expensive due to the PVD applied...

"Pro Hunter" is a watch customizer and not affiliated with Rolex in any way.

There is no way to know the value without actually researching their custom selection on the used market (not the overinflated 'auction' prices).. Rolex, or a Rolex contracted watchmaker will not work on these watches so ensure that you take it to somebody trustworthy who can evaluate the movement...

Personally, I wouldn't pay anything extra for the PVD coating, even though they cost at least twice the MSRP from Pro Hunter.

It's just what they call a Rolex with PVD coating. It's a company I believe.
Rolex will not touch these, so it may be difficult to authenticate the watch.
Most hunter models are SD's or Sub from what i've seen.
Could very easily be a fake that has been coated in PVD.

It is a Military version built in 1966 with a plastic face and just a normal MOD strap.

I could be wrong but for some reason I can't see anyone PVD coating a vintage like that. Is it a SUB?

If it is a Pro Hunter, it was not made in '66. It is a modern watch that has been modified by the company for the "look". It is not an authentic military watch.

Pro Hunter is a UK based company that specializes in modifying new watches...

Not everyones cup of tea, and also suspected of manipulating the re sale values by buying back their own stock at massively inflated prices.

Just done some research;it is a 5513 basically painted black it seems.

I can think of better ways to throw away good money. IMO stick with OEM!

You know you can get any watch DLC coated (far nicer than PVD and more durable) for about 300-400$.

In other words, a nifty black coating does not equal a price premium. If you like the look, send your watch to a specialist and have it done yourself.
