Price rise after Basel?
I am new to this site and plan to buy my first Rolex (GMT IIc) in May. A lot of ADs are telling me that a price rise is imminent. Has anyone heard about a price rise and if so is it likely to be before, during or after Basel?
If the rumours about a new Sub are true, might they wait until that is on the market until a price rise? Basically, if a price rise is happening in the next couple of weeks I better go out and get my watch this week! |

No-one will be able to tell you if there IS a price rise or when it will be. Rolex didn't wait when they launched the Deepsea. The Deepsea hit the UK market in Sept 08 after it had been launched at Basel in the April of that year. However, there was a waiting list for the Deepsea and there was another price rise (Oct 1st) before people who were second on the list got their watch.
Larger ADs like Goldsmiths will often let you have the watch at the old price if they had them in store before the price increase. In my opinion it is highly likely there will be a price increase soon but that is just my opinion. Are you thinking of waiting to see what else is released at Basel before you buy the GMTIIc? |

Get it now!! That is a watch that will not be changed--why wait if there is a price increase you will only pay more!

Thanks guys. I was planning on waiting until my birthday in May but it would definitely be frustrating to have to pay a few hundred more, so I will probably buy before then.
Any tips on getting a discount in London (no luck so far speaking to ADs)? |

Yes, buy before then unless you can secure one from a TRF source for the current price.

It's called a sales tactic. No one knows until about a week before it acutally happens and then it'll be all over the net.
