Bad Rolex AD Staff!!!!!!!! small rant

OK, here it is....
Not all AD's are complete crap. And generally, the owner of an AD is a very good business person that specializes in the art of sales with a lot of personality. You know the kind of person I am referring to. He / she is your friend by the time you try on your first Rolex from the case, and when you buy one, will be everytime you return.
BUT!!!!!!!!!
What is the deal with the older AD's that kind of let the dealership go, like my local, and higher people that don't care to learn about what they sell, or what they have in stock, or what they can get in stock, and furthermore just don't care!!
My experience has been horrific for the last few years, especially since my very local AD owner has retired, and the new manager must have had his big talk from Rolex Inc Head Office, to be as snooty as possible, and remove as few pieces from the case as possible whenever requested.
NOW the BIG RANT.....
I have posted earlier about the fact that I could not purchase / order a pair of springbars (thanks Mike) due to me changing my 1680 Sub's crystal to a tropic 19 (no cylops). He stated that my watch was not original. I found out later that the non cyclops T19 was offered by Rolex Inc for the 1680 but just not published from Steve Mulhollond, which is the King of this fact. I am over my delimla with this managerial idiot, but this it what my question is>>>>>>

If someone walks in to an AD with a 5517 MIL Sub, a Comex, a 5514? How many AD Staff are going to understand the true significance of these pieces? The value? The Everything???

OK here are the pics, because I love them too.. who wants to read a boring post anyway????

Love how you put a 5513 crystal on a 1680. Didn't know you could do that!

On to your rant:

I have never had a good experience in any AD. The sales people vary in annoyance from uninformed, misinformed, to downright snooty.

My suggestion is to never go back to an AD. Why bother when all your needs are met by TRF? Need to talk shop, post on threads. Need a watch, all the great sellers are trustworthy, efficient, and will never sell you bull. Need a part, that's where Steve Mulholland comes in.

Good post.

Many bad ADs can leave a bad taste in your mouth but for me certain people at the ADs are nasty while others are very informed and kind. Next time, I suggest to know WHO to talk to.

AD's generally suck lol

I can count my favorable experiences on one hand and unfortunately they are hard to remember at times with the numerous bad experiences overshadowing them!

If it were any other product and the staff treated me the way they have in the past - I would tell them to %** off and buy another brand..

Unfortunately I'm hooked on Rolex AND fortunately there are people like DavidSW!

I doubt if any but the rarest AD would have staff that would be familiar with the vintage references. I doubt if a Porsche dealer would have staff knowledgeable about a 550 Spyder. That's the only negative to collecting these beautiful pieces that I can think of.

Yeah, me too. I've always found the sales people to be courteous (yes, maybe a little snooty), fairly knowledgeable and never reluctant to pull several watches out of the case for a "test drive" on the wrist. Maybe my age (on the last lap) has something to do with it, but I've visited a number of Rolex dealers and never felt the need to rant.

I have never had a bad experience at my local AD. As for age, I was in my late 20's when I bought my first watch from them and they treated me very well. I have only bought a couple of watches from them but even the armed guard remebers my kids.
BTW: that T19 looks great!

My only experience with an AD was with the one in Reglia(?) TX, (Fort Worth). I had my old 1500 serviced there. They were pretty cool, let me try on anything I wanted, very polite and courtious. And above all (this is for the sheepherder) there was---CLEAVAGE!!!
Sorry, no pics.

I've been in two AD's

The first was great. Really well informed and friendly. She got several books out and explained the options. I was only asking questions, not buying.

The second time I went into an AD the lady made me feel ill at ease. She tolerated me rather than welcomed me. Also I think she could have been better informed about the product. She seemed bemused when I refered to the Rolesor.

In the not to distant future I intend buying watches for my wife and I. I know which AD I will be visiting.

Very nice Sub--as for AD's--so many can be arrogant. It is always amazing to me when you see 2 or 3 employees sitting around and sizing you up before they help. Fortunately my AD is a good friend and a great family as well. It is too bad they all can not be run the way they run their store! Every time you walk into a store it should make you feel good enough to want to come back!! A Ritz Carlton experience!!

The AD that I would look forward to buying from never gives discount. The AD chain of shop that I do buy from give me an automatic 10%. The buying experience is generally shoddy with poor product knowledge but there is quite a good cash saving to make up for it.
