Rolex in pool?
I just wanted to ask everybody here on Rolex Forums if you would wear your Rolex in a Swimming pool. Would the chemicals in the water bother the watch's metal at all? Silly question i know.

I would worry more about what the chemical doing to my skin first... than a Rolex.
I would wear it if I have to (I don't wear a watch when in a pool), just give it a rinse afterwards. |

I have worn my Explorer in the pool and swam with it, no problem. If you have a vintage though, get it pressure checked first.

I swim with watches all the time, just rinse them afterwards.
I can't believe that 2 people actually voted no, they are made for water. ![]()

I make it a point to go diving with every diving watch I own. They all have to go to the bottom of the ocean at least once. The SD goes many times. Rinsing them off afterwards is a good idea. I dont really like being in pools or lakes, so after I rinse my watches off, I let them sit in a glass filled with water for a couple of hours to get the rest of the salt off. That's probably a little OCD though....

Someone posted thier Rolex in a glass of beer. Rolex watches are made for water, however I would not be putting them in beer, they may end up getting drunk as Rafael.

Hm, most Rolex should take the water fine, but I'm not so sure if the DSSD would survive...

The metals used to manufacture Rolex watches can withstand way, way, way more agressive chemicals than your skin and eyes can.....it's not often I've got in a pool and thought "woah, this water is burning my skin now, I'd better get out before it starts peeling off"......come on now.....we're talking about seriously good quality stainless steel and possibly Gold here.....

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but that is one of the more confusing questions in quite some time. OF COURSE it goes in the pool (given that we are talking about a waterproof sport model here). It goes everywhere. All the time.
What is the point of owning a sport watch/professional tool watch if you are not going to use it? |

As much as I've joked about not getting my watches wet, I seriously don't see how it can hurt.

I must be honest - I've got a Seiko Black Monster being delivered tomorrow for use on the beach. But that's more because I tend to take my watch off when I'm lying in the sun so I don't end up with a white band on my wrist... if I run into the water without my watch at least I won't have to worry about someone half-inching my Rolex

I can understand that Tony.....however I never take my watch off other than to clean it...and I mean, never.....so nobody see's my white bits unless they see me washing my watch.....no problem there for me then......ha ha ha
