Speedmaster (reduced) not working.

Opened the watch box this morning to put on my Speedie (reduced) and the old girl wouldnt work.

I have not had it on for well over 4 months (doesnt sit on a winder).

The crown rotates to wind but nothing happens.

Any thoughts????

hmmm...and you shake it as well? the reduced is a work horse and these issues are rare...
Did you also try the chrono buttons to see if that works?
time for a trip to the docs?
let us know how it plays out..good luck!

The movement in the Reduced is not really a workhorse at all.
It is an ETA 2892 automatic movement with a Dubois-Debraz chronograph module on top of it.
It is a cheaper way to do it, but a servicing nightmare and most centers opt for a whole new movement at time of servicing.

With that being said, 4 months is a long time, and depending of the temperature at which was stored, position, etc, the oil might have thickened just enough to prevent the watch from running. Module based chronographs are a lot more sensitive to things like that. A trip to a watchmaker might be in order.

Thanks for the replies and the advice guys.

Took afore-mentioned item down to the local Omega / Rolex stealer today, to be told that it will take 16 weeks and cost £315 for the pleasure of fixing the problem.

Lovely, just bloody lovely.......

Don't expect any updates either - getting information out of the Omega servicing department is like getting blood out of a stone at the moment

All watches might have problems from time to time. It's not just Omega. I know plenty of brand new Rolex's that will have manufacture defects or movement problems. Let's try to keep those type of comments out of sight.

what makes you think that an Omega after a service will not come back as new?

IMO - that kind if comment is uncalled for.
