Does anyone know any facts on the new po such as if the size really wont be available in 42mm, I want one, I like the look of the existing one but I dont want to regret not having the newest style po?
Any thoughts? |

the recent interview carried out by the owner of another watch forum indicates that the 2011 PO will have the in-house 8500 movement. due to a larger size compared to the current 2500 movement in 42mm POs, it "should" get a larger case - no idea on what size. also, not sure what will happen to the 45.5mm PO Chrono though.
imo - the current 42mm PO is a perfect size for my 7.25" wrist and it is ultra comfy, even on the bracelet. |

I dont think omega would get rid of one if not their best sellers size, but Im new in the watch thing and just really want one, but I dont want regrets of not being patient, but if a 42mm isnt available, i will be dissapointed, also I wonder if the 2500 is that inferior?

only time will tell..... 2500 isnt inferior - its just 8500 is "that much" better and it is 100% in-house. obviously Omega would like all their watches to house their own kovement eventually. |

I would have thought they could keep 42mm size - if they can shoehorn a cal. 8500 into 38mm ATs and Connies, then they should be able to get it into the PO. I think they'd be making a mistake if they dropped the 42mm size, it's a very strong seller

Gentlemen, it is primarily the depth rating that dictates case dimensions. The WR of the ladies 8500 is only 100m, the 38mm AT is 150m, while the PO (at least for now) is 600m.
As to the ultimate size of the 8500 PO, I look at what happened to the Aqua Terra when the case dimensions increased with the move from the cal 2500. For someone unfamiliar with the way the 2500 AT caressed one's wrist, the new model might seem comfortable but it cannot compare with the original AT. I sincerely hope that the 8500 does not result in the demise of the 42mm PO. It would be a mistake not unlike Rolex discontinuing the Seadweller. IMO Ed, the current 2500 PO is already a Sub-killer and the LiquidMetal is likewise a Sub C-killer. Fr. John† |

A 42mm PO w/ the 8500, Liquidmetal bezel and matte dial would make a very worthy competitor though, especially if priced right. |
