Buy a daily beater, that's what I did.

I wear my Explorer II (white dial) during weekdays, and my GMT IIc and Sub LV on weekends.

Anyway, as many have already suggested - looks like you have made up your mind with the 3 classic Rolex watch. I say go for gold mate. If that will make you happier. No point of having the watches you don't wear or afraid of damaging it.

Im sure the boys will cherish your watches when they are passed down, whether they are Cs or not.

I do like the 16610 and I think you will enjoy wearing it. (I'm sure the boys would love the more colour ones like the GMTII and 16610 LV )

Let me share my watch odyssey over the past 1-2 years and suggest that you keep the newer models. I started slowly as an Omega fanatic. I have owned close to 20 different Omega models, many of them multiple times. I just dipped my toes into Rolex in early 2010. I have bought, sold and traded several Rolex models including the 14060M, 16610LV, Air-King, 16700 and 116610C.

One of the things that I did not really like about the older Rolex models was the bracelet and lack of flexibility unless I removed permanent links. The new bracelet with glidelock completely solves this problem. Plus, the ceramic bezel is beautiful. In certain lighting, it evokes vintage Rolex with a silver/grey hue. But it also looks uber modern. I think you'll miss your new Rolex and suggest you keep them.

One day, when budget permits, I'll have a balanced collection of modern and vintage or near vintage Rolex watches. For the time being, the modern Sub-C completely rules.

I went from the 16710 to the 116710 and now 116713 -

I really think the older GMT-II don't hold a candle to the new one.
The clasp, crown, movement, size, case, fit/finish, etc.....

Me, I could not go backwards.

I will bet a year or 2 from now, you will be selling the 16710 to buy the 116710 again.

All over now though 'cos I'm "feeling the lurve" for my ceramics again!!

My cSub' was at Rolex HQ for almost a month & I think maybe I forgot how special it is....

You're right of course.....

It's not so much that I felt "too old" for the Super-Case..... I just felt/thought that I looked a bit "Johnny Come Lately" wearing a ceramic rather than a Classic which is by far 'the norm' round here.

You already have the ceramic watches. Probably cheaper for you to just by a nice 14060 Sub as a "work watch" and keep the other watches and wear them when not at work

Keep what you have and safe up for a 16600. I just did the same myself and the watch just makes total sense: it is understated, it does have a date - but no cyclops, so less noticeable for the average person, no PCL, and when you do get a scratch it kinda hurts in the beginning, but over time it actually completes the watch...

I always thought it would be a bit too high on my wrsit (I have small wrists), but it doesn't. And because the clasp is bigger I found it is easier to manage the link/clasp position so it nicely sits in the center of the wrist.

You just can't go wrong with a 16600 and it would nicely complement your current collection...
