I special order a Rolex - Can I specify the series?

I've read some threads saying that it is possible depending on the Rolex Rep. Others say it isn't possible. Anyone know the definitive answer?

I normally wouldn't be so mindful of the series but because so many Rolex owners do it makes me take notice a little more.

Thanks in advance all!

Never heard of that. Although, chances are you would get the latest series.

You can ask...But it won't be guaranteed!

Here is a link from another member who ordered and stated a serial he wanted...It didn't arrive as such!

Interesting thread. Sales person calls the rep and orders the specs of the watch. Whatever gets shipped is completely random? I wonder is some reps will go the "extra mile" f that is even a possibility.

Thanks for replying to my post.

Sellers can only sell what they have in stock.

The question might be better asked...
"Can an AD order a specific series from Rolex (on behalf of a customer)?"

I somehow doubt it.

Well you may be able to ask, but RUSA will send whatever they have in stock. A local AD received a shipment of new pieces from RUSA two weeks ago and it included a "Z" serial GMTIIC (116710LN)!

With all the present and past Rolex series all it was a approximation when a case may have been stamped. It was stamped sometime between X&Y years now the movement in the case especially with say the cal 3135 could be older or newer made in any particular case. Now Rolex tests around 500000 plus cal 3135 each year at the Swiss COSC.Now those movements are not all made in the same week, month, or even year.So a new case date stamp is just perceived its a newer watch, but this is not always the case with the main bit the movement inside. And IMHO this must have this series that series nonsense only started around 10- 15 years ago.In my days we just went to a AD to buy a Rolex watch. And in buying that Rolex watch we new that just a little care from its owner it would last a lifetime and beyond.

Serial cannot be specified. When an order is placed it is shipped based on what is in stock at RUSA.

To put it bluntly, Rolex don't care what serial is put on the watch, and neither should anyone else to be honest. As far as they (and anyone) should be concerned, it is a new watch, and that's all that matters

I don't think so, especially now that they use random serial numbers. Roles USA just sends what is on the shelf to the AD with no fussing. Not sure it all really matters. The best experience is getting your watch fresh in the clear plastic capsule and not handled by anyone else other than the watch elves at the Mothership in Switzerland! Ask the AD for fresh stock and not the display units which I consider semi-used (not always possible, but worth asking). Cheers

Yes I wanted M series back in 2008 becuase I wanted the rehalt on my sub LV and I got it. If I did not get it? I would not buy the watch and I said this to the AD. If you have the money then you should be able to get what you want. Don't let them try to slip you old stock in the case becuase that is what is in there best interest.
