Everyone at Rolex NYC wears a Rolex

Ok so I am not sure about everyone. However I was at the NYC service center the other day and as I always noticed that everyone at customer service has one I recently noticed the doorman at the building entrance wearing a Ceramic GMT. I wonder what the policy is at Rolex and what the employee discount is?

Maybe all employees get a free Rolex as part of their "uniform"

Kinda makes you want to work at Rolex, don't it?

Just a part of their uniform, like all the Bally salemen wears their Bally shoes when on duty.

wonder if they would hire me to sweep the floor for a week or so? I would take any opening to pick up a piece.

I would assume they are required to return the watches if they get fired or quit. That is if they are just given to them. A handsome discount maybe...

I agree, it is the same at the London RSC. I have a feelign they are issued with them and required to wear them at all times when on the property. I'm not convinced they get to take them home though and I have seen the same person wearing a different watch sometimes so there may even be a pool of watches that they grab as they check in for the day.

Last one in gets the AK

I personally believe that the different employees purchase them at a discount. I mean, even a doorman can afford a Rolex if he saves his money and manages his money wisely. He/She is most likely working for RSC because they have a love for Rolex watches. It would just make sense that they would all own at least one or two Rolex watches

Hmmm... not sure on this one...

What are the odds that EVERY employee would take up the option? Not everyone is willing to save up, even if they are half price, A GMT2 is still well over 2 months pay for the average doorman and he still has to feed his kids and pay the rent, etc. It is still possible, but unlikely.

Once a year, I believe, AD employees can buy a watch at "special pricing" List - 42%, perhaps?

Like I said "Not everyone is willing to save up, even if they are half price, A GMT2 is still well over 2 months pay for the average doorman and he still has to feed his kids and pay the rent, etc. It is still possible, but unlikely."

EVERYONE at RSC wears a rolex. The odds of everyone having enough spare change to buy one is not likely. I have also seen the same person with a different watch each time.

If I worked at Rolex and the employee discount was 50%, DavidSW and others would be out of buisness.

I was there yesterday too. Really nice people. The chick at the front desk wasn't wearing one. The others I've met there all wear rolexes.

I know at the Panerai boutique in Shanghai that each employee wears a PAM but has to return it to the safe each day before they leave, would guess it's the same at the Rolex SC NY...

Sounds about right, but even at a discount, I doubt the entire workforce would rush out to buy one. Some will have kids, mortgage, and car payments to put first.

Don't think so....

The AD employees in Alexandria, VA also wear Rolex watches. You can tell the owners, senior management and long time employees by the 18K models they wear. All others wear the less expensive copies.

It makes sense, as it is part of the brand experience. How odd would it be if they were all wearing Panerais?

At the company I work for, one of our products is hand lotion. We don't allow our employees to have a different brand of lotion on their desk, although they do not have to have one of ours. We ask that if they use a different brand, that they keep it put away.

I worked extra in a watch store after high school, we always "borrowed" watches for the day and then put them back.

I remember a new plant manager at an automotive manufacturing company having to lay off employees. He had the gate guards go to the parking lot and take down the parking pass numbers of every employee not driving the brand the plant built. That is where the layoffs started. Its just good business sense for your employees to wear your product. If I am in an Omega store and everyone is wearing Rolex that would make me walk out of the store and go to Rolex etc etc. I use this as an example as I have been in a store that sold only Omegas but have never been in a store that sold only Rolex.

Once he turned pro, Shaq showed up at Nike headquarters wearing a Reebok t-shirt. Later, a Nike exec said "when he came in wearing Reebok we knew he was not our type of guy". Shaq ended up signing with Reebok.
