Help with Dating my Rolex

My father gave me this watch two days a go, was my uncle's from new but he was killed in New Guinea and my father received it late 60s. has pointed crown guards, swiss>25, metres first. The bracelet is dated 2/62. from my limited knowledge is this an early to mid 60s 5513?

Regards

Mark

The serial number should give a rough idea ( give or take a year )

The serial number is under the bracelet on one side from which we can get an approximate date, and the reference number is on the other side of the case..

It is likely that inside the caseback there is an actual stamp that will give you the year of manufacture..

Do not go by that bracelet.. The endlinks are not correct, and therefore, the entire bracelet is suspect........

Yes the end links are not right my father has misplaced them and got a watchmaker friend of mine just to "get it on the road" so he could give it to me. The bracelet is original for this watch. Been in the family since new. Dad has to try and find the original end links.

Wow! What a time piece. Gorgeous watch. Would you put a new bezel on it?

well i took of the bracelet turns out it has Registered Design 5512 on one side and a six digit number on the other starting with 694xxx i presume it has a 1 in front of those numbers but i will give it a good clean and have another look. Do I have a franken watch on my hands?

apparently not there were two line and four line 5512s seems I need to get the back off it to look at movement and case back to check dates. I'm thinking 1962 two line 5512 at this stage. But i thought it should have the outer ring on the second markers? I'm confused

I have a "Date Your Rolex" app on my iphone and according to it, it should be a 1950 model.
