Will the SD and 16610LV continue ...
... to increase their value??
I tried to buy one LV before, like a year ago, and their price was reasonable, but since then, they continue to increase their value and they are very hard to find, the same with the 16600 SDs. Do you think their value will keep going up? Best regards,

yes indeed
You won't hear me say tha a SD or 16610 is a good investment, there or probably other and better investments BUT,don't think one of these will become cheaper Will they rise with 3 or 5 or 10% or more per year, nobody knows but they will rise |

IMO, yes. The LV seems to have gone up quite a bit in the last two months. I look for it to stabilize for a while then really hold it's value well.

prices generally increase as rolex increases on new models. the sd is a keeper, the 16610 or sub is probably too common... both should be viewed as fairly liquid...

A SD or LV is a good investment. Let's say it appreciates 8% per year. How many of you are getting almost a guaranteed 8% on your investments, with no chance at all to lose money? How did you do on real estate last year?
At 8% a SD one bought on the forums for $5K would double in value in 9 years. |

I think the LV is going to become increasingly sought after over the coming years as people come to appreciate the maxi dial and hands in an old style case. I therefore doubt their value will decrease.

I agree 100%... I did however sell my lv recently because it just didnt move me enough,,,Im sure it will be worth quite a bit in a number of years but decided that keeping a rolex as an investment was not a great idea, i would rather have one which I love and would wear instead of keeping to later sell for profit...

If it holds value or not is not an issue for me anyway.
I intend to keep mine because I like it and gives me more satisfaction than money in the bank would. Even if someone offered me a huge amount of cash for it I wouldn't sell, so the whole value thing is really not interesting. |

I bought my 16610lv vseries bnib at 4860€ in september 2010... Now, 8 months later, i could easily sell it for 5500€ = more than 10% per year.
Guess what? It is still bnib, because i bought it for the end of the last year of my law studies... But i failed, so it stays in safe for another year. Who knows, perhaps i will not want to wear it in january 2012... It is good to know that if i want to sell it, i would have won something. Problem: i love it too much, this matt green is astonishing, i've got a few months to think about flipping or keeping, results in 2012.

I would say YES they will continue to increase gradually perhaps not as much as we have seen here recently... The GMT Pepsi/Coke 16710 should do the same

How much do you guys think people are willing to pay for a mass produced watch?
I think they will level out and drop a bit in the future, then sustain that price. They are not going to be worth 7 or 8 grand for many, many decades, they are just not worth it. This forum used to be all about the joy of watches, now there are so many new collectors/members that are all about money and future return, it's sad actually.

The 16610LV was only produced for about 7 years, at about a 1 to 5 ratio compared to the 16610. I personally think the 16610 LV is going to be one of the most sought after watches in the future. Just my humble opinion......

A year ago I couldn't sell my mint 16600 for $4k, and nice newer M series'ish could be had in the mid 4's. Demand and lack of product has driven up prices.
It's nuts. I hope the insanity stops. You can throw the GMT II in this thread. The price increase in unsustainable IMO as there are so many nice watches out there.

I have always like the 16610LV and always was sad that I turned down the one I ordered years ago. I finally was able to pick one up this past weekend. None of my friends like the green bezel, but I was always attracted to it. I really like the watch and enjoy it because it is special to me. I do not care that others say I should have bought the black dial. I bought it because it sang to me. if it increases in value that would be great, but I do not plan on selling it. I am planning on having the case back engraved with my sons name on it.

i don't agree with the "it was better before" attitude... Most rolex owners, even today, buy a lifetime watch. (me included)

Investment or not, I think a lot of us want a watch which does not loos to much value
I love a few Girard Perregaux but would never buy them You walk out of the store and you just lost 60% or more They are to expensive for me, I can't take such a loss Now, if my 16610LV will cost 6000 or 10000 euro within 5 years, I don't care Mine was a present from my GF so I can't sell it anyway But I do understand some people want to know more about the future value Besides let's be honest ............... some watches are VERY GOOD investments Look at some vintage ROlexes or Panerai, or sought after Pateks like the 5070 and 5970 or some LE Audemars Piguet or again LE Panerai My watches are not intend to be an investment but if some other guys look for investments, why not ? |

I personally never buy a watch because they're a good investment, I just buy what I like, if it's a good investment even better.
