Watch Snob and the 'Executive watch'

Clearly there is more than one writing for Ask Men feature as the Watch Snob. I see opinions change back and forth between brands and makes constantly. It's just I find the writing entertaining.
The opinions of the Snob(s) view on the GMT Master and DateJust are exceptional.

The ultimate in snobbery, then, must be to not actually write one's own snob articles on being a snob!

Rolex is really just a great all around brand...
You can wear them doing almost anything.

Don't get me wrong I LOVE Patek BUT would not
wear a Patek doing half of the stuff I would in a Rolex.
The bracelet and case are just tougher all around for
daily use...

Rolex is a Snob watch but yet its also a true tool watch
even the DD can take serious wearing and abuse.

I would not even think about jumping in a pool or even the ocean
wearing a Plat DD while I would never do the same with a nice Patek.

Most of the more famous, non-Rolex brands were mainly dress watch makers. They have not been making tough watches for long or they made one and went back to dressier models. PP, Blancpain, and Breguet made sport models like the FF, a long time ago, but none of them is well known for tough, do-everything watches like Rolex.

I would use a DJ or AK for almost anything except scuba. I can't say that for most others. Rolex has, IMO, always tried to make a watch that fits my lifestyle. Most buyers are going to buy one good watch, and it needs to work for most of what they do in life. I like most nicer brands, but I really understand how Rolex has created its' position in the market.

i love the watch snob. for the WIS, it's a tongue-in-cheek look at the world of haute horlogerie. for the poseur, it's a chance to get regularly spanked for wearing dumb watches.

I love the snob's columns. I think they are very funny if you read them in the right spirit.

They certainly are. I find his answer to Justin here particularly amusing...

Very entertaining blog. No one needs to get too ruffled by the obvious poke in the eye it likes to deliver.

I agree, that is hilarious. I posted a link to that a couple of weeks back, but fell foul of someone who didn't see the funny side. The truth hurts!
