Icon11 Someone noticed!

I've had my LV for about a month now, after having the 16610 for about five years. I got my first 'I like your watch' last saturday at a Rehoboth Beach chocolate shop. And this was just a day trip from Ocean City, the resort we were staying at...Never had anyone notice my green-less 16610...

Cool! What was the admirer like? A "WIS" or just a polite gentleman/woman?

I notice watches all the time, but I can never bring myself to say anything. You never know if the person is a WIS or not. I bet your 16610 has been noticed a lot, this is just the first person to say something.

Reminds me of the "do you comment on other people's watch?" thread. I comment everytime I see a Rolex and so far it has started very pleasant conversations.

Actually in the past I used to spend a few days in the summer
at Rehoboth beach.
I remember going to dinner and all would be looking at my gold Sub
Same thing at Cape May further north
but I was not the only one with a gold sub there.

I think it's always nice to receive a compliment. But, it's always fun to give a compliment too! I'll usually ask someone if they're happy with their Sub, Yacht Master or whatever and see where the conversation goes. You meet some nice people!!

I always give a compliment as well. Most of the time they reply back "thank you, you are the first person that actually noticed it's a Rolex".

I was shopping for a new handgun recently. The gun store owner was wearing a sub. He noticed my SS GMTIIC and took a real good look at it. He knew it had the ceramic bezel. And, yes, I bought my personal protection weapon there.

Had many a nice conversation this way.

However I have yet to have any people notice any of my watches, and this works just fine for me.

Rolex and gun shops seem to go hand and hand. The shop I worked in took Rolex watches in trade and always had a few in inventory.

Its kind of like in pulp fiction when Quenten Tarrantino says I dont need you tell me my coffee is good because I know its F--kn good. I think most people dont give rolex owners compliments based on the same principal.

hhhahhahah That Wuenten Tarrantino comment was the best I had heard in a while. Good one.

I would agree that Rolexes are commonly found in gun shops, not sure why. Owners of the shops commonly have them and many people in shopping have them. I currenly live in Honolulu and have been shooting skeet at the local range once or twice a weekend in the morning. I would say 70% of the people there are wearing one. Kind of redicilious really. I am just a kid from a small town in Maine that would have never thought I would be wearing a sweet watch like my GMT II but love every bit of it to be honest. If any of my buddies still at home knew of this they would dog me out for sure!!!! hahahahah

Not long ago at work I commented on a guy's watch, saying "Nice Daytona", to which he replied, "No, it's a Rolex"

Oh people notice, I check out every watch that crosses my path and only comment if it's appropriate (they're not talking to someone else, I don't have to go out of my way to get in ear shot etc...).

Yesterday at a restaurant with a co worker I noticed a guy wearing a Brietling, then I noticed he was looking at my watch, pretty funny. However I didn't get a chance to talk to him as the restaurant was busy and we were both with people.

She was a thirty something nice-looking lady. I don't think she was a WIS so I immediately dismissed the first thought I had: I guess the 16610 was too common for people to notice but the LV...

I was at a vintage motorcycle rally this past weekend and out of the blue, a greasy mechanic fellow I know who for the most is watchless, said to me, "is that a ceramic?"

Turned out, he's a big-time Panerai collector and just hooked up on a very limited production Lamborghini coupe.

Sometimes, ya never know...
