Ceramic Bezel hard to imitate

I was just wondering if it's hard to imitate the ceramic bezel from the new 116710. From what i know rolex is spending 40 hours to construct each bezel and it is a long and difficult procedure. Do you guys think that rolex made the ceramic bezel on purpose so that rolex watches are harder to imitate? Do you think that it is some kind of anticheat for the replica manufacturers. If rolex upgrades all of it's watches with the ceramic bezel do you think that rolex watches would be harder to imitate? Last but not least there is a video on youtube where one guy is selling a 116710 replica but it doesnt have a ceramic bezel.

A ceramic bezel is more round and concave and an ordinary bezel is flat insert.

From what I have heard, yes, the ceramic bezel in VERY hard to copy, but then again I am positive that the fakers out there will get it "right" some day

Yes, you're spot on! The bezel insert of the 16710 is aluminium

this is the first replica of the 116710 that i saw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBr55oN5kIY and i have to agree with spacedweller that it will be really hard to imitate the ceramic bezel.

Wow, that copy really does suck!

Note: The GMT hand is RED on that wanna-be 116710

i have to agree with you it is an awful copy and if you check the date you will see that it has a wrong date font check the number 6 on the date window. Rolex is not using this date font anymore. I also agree with you about the 24 hour hand

Rolex touts the 40 hours to produce a bezel. I wonder how many of those hours involve baking in an oven or cooling vs. actual craft work?

Rolex has some videos where they show how the bezels are build. I believe that bezels are build from robots and humans are just checking the quality of the final product. It's not too much time to build such a great looking and durable ceramic bezel.

It is difficult to make to begin with, let alone imitate.

yes it is correct. however knowing that the ceramic bezel is more round and concave. is it not possible for ppl to fabricate such bezel. only difference is the material used.

if it is a good fabricate, it would be hard to tell the difference

i agree with you but it would be really expensive to find a good fabricate to make it look like genuine.

that im not sure. considering the number of replicas like rolex, is it not possible to get a mould done and copy the fonts?

however, price to get the mould done including fonts might be high. this could be a deterent.
