Icon20 Alpha Watches?

Hello All,

I just wanted to have an open discussion on these Alpha watches. Most of the watches they make are homages. They make a Sub, GMT, Daytona and some more. I'm looking at their GMT Homage. I read an old thread from TRF about them and all the members said in the post, they like theirs, they are reliable and great looking. Alpha's are cheap watches, under $120. Alpha clearly stamps their name all over the watch, to make sure no confusion happens. I'd like a GMT Pepsi Homage. What is your opinions.

Thanks so much!

my honest opinion!!!! the one in your first pic ive had for several years obused thrown on the floor tossed here there everywhere without a thought and it has run faultless at about +1-2 Seconds day maybe a 'real' vintage daytona could do the same BUT! would you treat as such? but i would concide it never felt special!. The value of something is how it makes you feel" and i believe that is what largely separates expensive watchers from good ones

I don't know if it's just the picture but there's something I don't like about the blue on that Pepsi dial (it doesn't look dark enough IMHO). However I think that "kind of vintage Daytona looking" Chronograph would look superb on your wrist Adam!

Thanks mate! I've heard a couple of bad things about the GMT Pepsi Homage from Alpha, but the Paul Newman Homage, I've heard a bunch of great things about!

If you don't have a chronograph yet, I'd say it would be a great move to pull the trigger on this one!

Oh, by the way, I forgot to ask what bad things you heard about that GMT?

I do have a Chronograph in my small collection, it's a vintage 70's 6139 8049T Seiko. That's why I want the GMT, I have a Dive Watch, A Chronograph, a dress watch. I'm kinda at a stand still, I don't know what to get next!!!! I'm honestly just going insane.

I remember seeing another post of yours showing an all-black GMT watch (I don't remember the brand tho but the bezel looked like a GMT-II's). If I may I think it looked better than that Alpha but, again, that's just my opinion!

Yes, that was a Parnis PVD GMT. That is another GMT in my head. I would only buy the Parnis in PVD (Blacked out) it looks really cool, also not often do you see a PVD GMT.

I have the "Milsub", from their now-closed Alpha USA subsidiary.

It was $50, shipped. As such, its faults (accuracy is so-so, the included strap was terrible) fall under "what do you want for $50?"

Parnis PVD GMT-II Homage

There is another homage I'm looking at, that is a GMT. It's the Parnis PVD (Pro Hunter) GMT. What do you think?

I have 3 Alpha watches all of which keep good time and have worn well. I got mine used on ebay for very little money.

The "coke" is very nice. I would never be able afford a Rolex coke so this is a very affordable alternative. Due to circumstances I will probably always be a 1 Rolex Guy. This doesn't stop me enjoying other brands.

Yes exactly! I could never see myself having more than one Rolex. I think I might get the Pepsi Alpha GMT. Have you had any problems with it?

alpha...

I saw this post yesterday...I thought to myself, humm, 75 dollars on ebay for a GMTII coke copy that says "Alpha", interesting. Then I looked at my 23 year old TagHeuer on my wrist and promptly reversed course...

No disrespect intended here gentlemen, but I don't want to look down on my wrist and see an copy of a swiss watch, made in Asia. Note however that I don't actually own a Rolex, perhaps once I buy I rolex I'll want something like an Alpha as a backup/secondary toy.

No disrespect taken mate! Everyone has their own opinons and that's fine. But in the end of the day, it all comes down to "It's your watch". I like these homages, I'll wear anyone, just that it doesn't say Rolex on the dial.
