Has anyone heard of the watch brand Cuervo y Sobrinos?

Hi Folks,

I am planning to buy another watch and someone told me about the watch brand Cuervo y Sobrinos. I have never heard of this brand or the movement in the watch. How does this watch compare with the Rolex brand in terms of quality, performance and future value?

Yes I have. They are decent but not in same league as Rolex IMHO. A dress watch that looks more like a FM. There is one jeweler nearby that sells them. I think they are in $3-5k range if my memory serves me well.

A brand that is just marketing ... Stick with watches from real watchmakers.

I think Cuervo used to be a store chain or shop that contracted to have watches made by other companies (like GP) and labeled them Cuervo and Sobrinos. I've heard Cuervo described as a high end store, kind of like Niemans.

It is a nice boutique brand, watches are exceptionally well made, sweet designs, mostly ETA based, but have some Lemania based versions as well. Not great re-sale value, so don't pay full pop.

Cuervo y Sobrinos were based out of Cuba before the Fidel Castro era. Nice watches but wouldn't pay what they ask for. I might pick one up one of these days just because my Dad was Cuban.
