Long-time lurker, first time poster (and shopper)

No really, check my join date!

Long story short, I'm a US Army veteran currently living in NYC and attending Columbia University. Currently own a couple ORIS divers watches (stainless steel TT1 and titanium "Der Meistertaucher" regulator), but didn't post wrist shots since I'm not sure anyone would be too interested in seeing them!

I've spent time on the forums soaking up as much Rolex info as possible, and am just about ready to pull the trigger on a GMT-IIc... or a SubC... no, make that a GMT-IIc... ahh damn it, I can't decide. I do plan on buying from one of the TRF trusted sellers, unless a NYC AD wants to give me a 10% discount!

The watch for me would represent a few things: first, as a way to commemorate my successful (and safe) enlistment in the military. I did quite a bit of travelling, so in that respect the GMT wins out - also, the green text and 24hr hand in my mind are kinda Army-ish. Second, I turn 30 this December so I figure a Rolex would be a good way to bring on the next decade of life.

I'm very thankful to the senior members of the forum who share consistently their knowledge and experience. Hopefully I'll be able to post a "My new Rolex!" thread in the very near future.

Nice Dan, I hope you land that rolex real soon!

Although you've been a member for quite some time, I'll welcome you anyway!!
Enjoy the forum and don't be so much of a stranger OK!

Rob.

Welcome and I think you want the GMT! All the best!

As for your ORIS watches, post watch pics - we care more about what they mean to you!

Welcome back to TRF, Dan. Do post pics of your current watches. We're always interested in seeing what members like on their wrists.

As for the Rolex, I would go with the GMT, especially if you are going to continue to travel. It's perfectly suited to go through multiple time zones.

But whichever one you get to celebrate this milestone, enjoy it and wear it always in good health.

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone! Here are the wrist shots... And yeah, I know I have girlie wrists - I'm 6' and weigh 175, but somehow got the small bones gene.

ORIS TT1 (ref 7533P) in stainless steel, and ORIS Regulateur “Der Meistertaucher” (ref 7451p in titanium). For the price, I consider them both great values. Sure, they both have ETA movements, but for $1k it was a great introduction to the world of Swiss automatics.

Stepping up to a Rolex this week, hopefully.

So there's a package from a certain trusted member of the forum on its way to me right now...
