W Serial SD with T-25 dial....special?

All -I'm trying to find out more about the W-serial SD's with the T-25 dial....is this some type of transitional watch? Is there anything special about it?

A local dealer is trying to sell me one for just under US 6,000.00....no papers but with box....good or not??

Thanks!!

A tritium dial, and tritium hands would be exactly what I would expect on a W serial (ca 1995) Seadweller. The SD had that dial up till ca 1999 when it was replaced with the Luminova dial. The tritium dial was a regular production part from ca 1985 (on SD ref 16660) until 1999. So I'd say that it is not transitional at all. "Transitional" for me, is something that happens during a short period of time going from one model to the next.

For daily use a Luminova dial (and hands) is better, but for me a watch in all original (used is OK) condition is worth more.

Depending on market, service history, and the condition of the watch I'd say that USD 6000 might be correct. A bit high, perhaps. This differs throughout the world. And others might have other opinions.

Post some pictures of the watch and you will most likely get some good advice/comments.

Good luck!

Best,

A

The price sounds high to me especially with no papers.

Short answer no much like all 16600 SDs from around 1988/9 to 1998 when they changed from Tritium to Luminover dials and price way over the top.And as for the original warranty paper well its just that now a bit of out of date paper.
