Pre-owned Rolexes and AD's
I just had a chat with my local AD. I asked about his stock of pre-loved Rolexes and he said he only had a TT DateJust and that they don't normally keep trade-ins. They normally trade them out to Blower's or Watchfinder straight away.
I'm wondering if that is the normal course of action or does it just depend on the AD? Thanks. |

I reckon most AD`s would rather be known for selling new rather than used, sort of public image thing with them.

local AD here has about 15-20 used most times, 75% of them ladies sizes, I get the impression some husbands may overestimate their better half's interest in their hobby.

The big AD around here has maybe a dozen or so in the case. Most, no all do not have box and paps as they are impulse trade ins. Usually the price is high on these watches but I have found if you know and have a relationship with the AD that they will come way down in price. Maybe once a year or so they will bring them in from all the locations and have a huge sale with a couple hundred or so watches.

Depends on AD, WOS Brighton generally have a section for second hand watches including Rolex. I bought my GMTII second hand through an AD, shop around.

My AD has about 20 pre-owned in a side display, but then he has probably 50-75 new in the main case and God knows how many in the safe.
