Watch identification: Trading Places - This is a Rochefoucauld

Does anyone know what the actual watch brand is? As in the one used as a prop in this movie?

For those who don't know, this is from a movie called "Tradition Places." IMDB here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086465/

Anyway, in the scene I'm referring to, the brand is one that is made-up. Here is the explanation from one of the leads of the movie after a pawnshop wants to pay him only $50 bucks:

"No, no, no. This is a Rochefoucauld, the thinnest water-resistant watch in the world. Singularly unique, sculptured in design, hand-crafted in Switzerland and water-resistant to three atmospheres. This is the sports watch of the 80's. $6955 retail. It tells time simultaneously in Monte Carlo, Beverly Hills, London, Paris, Rome, and Gstaad."

So, having written this, does anyone know the actual brand of watch used for the purposes of the movie? I realize it won't meet the requirements above and I'm only including the script from the text because it is a bit entertaining. :) But I still am curious to know if anyone knows or can guess what the watch is...

My best guess is a Patek...

Awesome movie and great scene - the actual brand could be some cheap 70s gold watch that would have been outdated by the time this movie was actually made.

Slightly OT, but: http://www.hodinkee.com/blog/2011/3/...ch-from-t.html

Oh, I am so buying that watch. Well played.

As for as your comments on the actual watch used in the movie as a prop, you are most likely right...still though, if anyone should know, that would be great! :)

As would I - oftentimes directors would just use their watch or someone from the cast/crew. Def could have been a Patek. I tried googling quickly and came up with nothing.

Seems like a pretty cool watch. Does anybody know what the resale value would be within Philadelphia?
