It looks like the last of the "tuna can" stamped metal clasps have gone as both the YM & Sub are updated.
Personally I thouhgt they looked pretty cheap and dated, so I'll say "good riddance"

To me, stamped clasps are as functional as milled clasps and lighter, too.

When they are in the deployed mode, they are indistinguishable.

However, the change was inevitable, so it's good that it's done and we can focus on other more important issues.

I agree 100% with the OP. The Glidelock has spoiled me and rendered my old 16613 nearly unwearable!

They don't bother me at all on vintage but can understand wanting a milled clasp considering the prices charged on new releases.

I tell ya, I own a two tone blue sub (2000 era with SEL) and as much as I love it, the clasp is CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP!

The new clasp on the DSSD and the 116610 series subs is of spectacular quality. Best of all? Husbands and wives can share watches because adjusting the bands to fit literally takes 3 seconds now.

I like the feeling of the stamped clasp on my 16570. It has sentimental value and it very light and comfy.

You're being a bit optimistic.

People will be proudly wearing the vintage "tin/tuna can" clasps forty years from now and beyond.

You say, "CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP." I say less expensive.

No problem though, because when people start complaining about the cost of a Sub these days, they can look at that milled clasp and associated features and realize that that change alone cost something like $800.

I agree! I still cannot believe they were making them without a fliplock which made it a lot easier to open up and lose your watch.

But it WORKS, WORKS, WORKS!

I'll wait 40+ years to weigh in on my opinion on the "quality" of the new clasp. Just because something feels/seems of high quality surely doesn't mean that it IS of high quality.

I'm perfectly content without my date, with my cheap clasp, and my lugholes.

the new clasp looks beautiful, feels solid but I don't know if it will be more durable. My only clap failure was that of a GMT-C. so go figures

Nathan, I agree totally. It actually put me off getting my first Rolex (Sub). I held out for a GMTIIc.

They did the job they were intended for and cost me far less money than the new.

I liked the clasp on my Sub C, but the tuna can clasp is comfortable and reliable, what more can we ask for.

I was only going to ever get myself one Rolex. I picked up my Sub C last December after much debate about getting either it or the 14060M. At the time I decided, I too thought that the clasp and the braclet were of "inferior" quality on the 14060M compared to the new glidelock bracelet on the Sub C. After getting the Sub C, I subsequently purchased a 14060M, because I still very much also liked the look of the "old" style without a date. Since then, I have actually worn the 14060M most of the time over the Sub C, as I find that I like the look and that on my wrist anyway, it is actually more comfortable. Just a little lighter watch, that most of the time, I feel like I'm not wearing it at all compared to wearing the Sub C. I beleive that if I know what I know now, if that makes sense, I wouldn't of purchased the Sub C to begin with, although I'm still not ready to part with either. Ther is no way now that I would describe the clasp or braclet on the 14060M "inferior".
