Hi;
Don't know if you're still looking for information on this watch, but on the off-chance you are, I'll tell you about my own experiences. I've got a Cellini Classic 5115/8, which I bought in the summer of 2006, and I've been very pleased with it. For a large part of the time since then it was more or less my daily wearer, particularly for the first year, and it held up well throughout. The highly-polished case does collect little dings and scratches very easily, so that's something to be aware of. But then, that's an issue with any 18K timepiece in general, but it's just because the whole case is so highly polished that scratches are more easily noticeable with a Cellini. The only possible negative thing I'd add is that I did experience a fault with it. In late 2010, I was winding it as normal one day, when I suddenly heard a loud "TWANG!" noise, and could feel a strong vibration thrumming through the whole case. It turned out to be a broken mainspring, and was fixed by a service. Now, I by no means mistreated it (I was always very conscious of the fact that I had to be much more careful with it than with any of my Oysters, and generally I think 'babied' it quite a bit), so this more fell under the category of "just one of those things" rather than "this happened because you did such-and-such to the watch". Since coming back from a service it's been absolutely fine, and so far there's no sign of any further troubles at all. So for now, I'm inclined to just chalk that up to a one-off freak incident, rather than being a sign of anything more sinister with regard to the general resilience of the movement of the watch. So that's the short version: I'm very happy indeed with mine, and most of my wrist-time is split between it and my Day-Date, so I've certainly worn it and used it a lot rather than just taking it out for special occasions now and then, or anything like that. |
