Killed some time at watch stores in Midtown manhattan yesterday....
made stops in at the Tourneau time machine, panerai and IWC boutiques...
Tourneau was, as most of you know, hit or miss...couple of the sales associates were congenial and struck up a conversation even though i rolled up in casual attire (though i was wearing my PAM 183 on a beautiful rob montana vintage ammo). Was actually interesting to see some of them check me out first (i should add that i look young) and then kinda change their stance when they noticed i was wearing a nice watch. Well, long story short they didnt have either of the watches i wanted to look at (glashutte evo sport panodate or the JLC MUT Moon 39). It was nice to browse the selection though, theyve got some cool stuff on display.... Next stop was the panerai boutique....wasnt going to go in, cause i knew id walk out with a new strap but as it turns out they didnt have any 26/22 straps, only 26/26 (which im covered on). So i saved myself a couple hundred bucks.... Lastly went into the IWC boutique. That place is a must visit for any WIS. Huge store, im sure you've seen the pictures. Lots of boutique editions on display and clearly marked as such, unlike the pam boutique which doesnt advertise the boutique and SE's or even have them on display as far as i could tell. Particularly liked the blue dialed aquatimer on bracelt which i hadnt seen before....not to mention the white gold aquatimer which was very impressive. sales associates were courteous and not too in your face which was nice as i was really just browsing (bottom line is i would never buy anything at retail unless it was a Special edition or something the guys around here couldnt get). Anyway, i skipped the breitling and AP boutiques for lack of time and the fact that my broken leg was starting to bother me but they are all within a few block radius for those with some time to kill

Sounds like a good day. I like Kenjo on 57th. No Rolex, but they are nice and let you browse around and try on. Also down the block there is a guy who has a ton of vintage Rolex in the window. I forget the name... anyone?
