Trying to make sure that my 88 year old mother was not taken advantage of.

She purchased for me a Gold Rolex Yachtmaster from Daoud's Fine Jewelry in Fort Lauderdale Florida where she has done business for 15 or more years.

It is the 18kt Gold Yachtmaster with the mother of pearl face and no diamonds on the numbers.

She paid 18600.00 plus tax. Is this a new watch ? If it is not a new watch how do I know if it is real or not ? If it is a used watch the price seems very high as I think I have seen the same watch new for the same price.

How do I know if it is the 35 mm or the 40 mm watch ? How do I know if it has ever been refurbished , updated , repaired or so on ? Truly how do I know she was not taken advantage of and that it is real ?

How much and where to go to change out the mother of pearl face for the white with diamonds ?

Please help me any and all help is greatly appreciated.

I suggest you post some pictures. I'm sure others will chime in shortly.

You can check current Rolex line-up on their pages.

Since Daoud's is not listed as an AD I would guess the watch is probably used or LNIB. Pictures will definitely help.

Take it to an AD and for a small fee I'm sure they will be able to answer all of your "How do" questions.
