Would it be a Sinn...to get this watch?

I am really liking the simplicity / minimalism of this watch. Sort of reminds me of an Expy I.

It is supposedly 38.5mm...but I see measurements as low as 37mm for the case.

I am wondering how much wrist time it would really see. At a little over $1,000...it's not too badly priced.

What do you guys think of it???

No! It's a thing of beauty. Sinn make great innovative watches.

Well, I have not purchased one yet. Still vacillating.

It's a nice looking watch - the dial looks great in real life - and it also looks good on the leather strap option. However, too small for me

Thanks Clive.

I like a 36mm DateJust, so I am thinking 38.5 would be just fine.

That's so minimal and understated it almost gave me a chill... love it.
Would take that over any gold and diamond encrusted tackiness anyday.

Also to me, the size is perfect as I'm not into kitchen-clock sized wristwatches no matter what Lady Gaga and everyone else says.

Grab it!... it would be a sin not to.

I'd certainly rock one of those, and I wear a 40mm watch daily... It's a very robust piece, my friend has one.

You'll be fine then Bill

There is a Sinn AD very close to me (walking distance) and I have handled several models. They all appear to be well built, and as mentioned I really like the dial and hands of this particular one, which is a 556 I believe. Pic below of it on the leather strap

Let me know if you would like me to check out anything for you in person

Thanks Clive.

Yup. The 556. We can only order them on line in the US.

The bracelet - at least the clasp - reminds me of the SEIKO Orange Monster. I alway get the bracelet and purchase a strap separately...just to keep options open.

Well, I'll keep vacillating. I have no business getting another watch.

Bill, it will only be a Sinn if you don't get it! it's a nice simply watch that will fly under the radar and most likely will give you variety from your DJ and GMT! Go for it!

For around $1000, that's a lot of watch for the money. I've handled a number of Sinn's (there's a dealer near 5 mins from my work), and they are solid watches with well made bracelets. I'd buy a Sinn ahead of a TAG any day!

I currently have 3 Sinn watches and really like the brand. I had 6 at one point, but sold 3 to fund other watches. You will enjoy being a "SINNer"! Cheers, Bill P.

Agreed - I am tempted by the U1, especially with the black bezel. There's a forum dedicated to Sinn over on WUS

Cary, we must be talking about our friends in the Block Arcade
There is a Sinn dealer in South Yarra as well, although the name escapes me... Fredric perhaps?

Sinn had a tie-in with Bell & Ross when B&R first got started, so you may sometimes find a used watch with both brand names on the dial. I believe the steel bracelets are the same design (or were) for both. Well made and good quality, but a little fiddly to size as they use collars+pins rather than screws

I had a Sinn 556. I think I bought one of the 1st series when it was introduced. Nice basic looking pilot, though better on a strap IMO. After 3 trips in for service the first year (rotor detached twice & needed new seals/gaskets), I had enough and flipped it.

Bill, something to bear in mind is that SS Sinns can look grey, rather like a Ti finish. I think this is because of the 'tegiment' process they use to harden the steel. This is probably not the case on all of their steel watches, but I had a look today at the 557 on n a bracelet and it had this appearance (doesn't show so much in photos)
