@esm, you're right I will never wear this one. I'll be just holding it and staring at it.

One day, I'll engrave my name on it, and throw it (in its natural habitat) in "challenger deep" (located beneath the western Pacific Ocean in the southern end of the Mariana Trench, which runs several hundred kilometers southwest of the U.S. territorial island of Guam) where I'll make sure it will be in a safe place.

PS -This is a concept watch - not sure if it might end up replacing the Sea Dweller

It won't. Don't think Rolex would release a watch for most people to stare and hold, then eventually thrown into the sea. That'd devalue the brand, wouldn't?!?

The subs rating is perfectly adequate for 99% of all divers today, fact there has been more men to have gone to the moon, than have gone past 300m just on scuba gear.And in the real world the Challenge watch is quite impracticable for normal wrist wearing.Unless you are one of these guys that have the mine is bigger than yours syndrome.

Like its predecessor I would doubt if its was made to wear on the wrist to tell the time.Made just purely for marketing and it looks like its worked with many wanting to buy one. But today like most dive watches bought its doubtful if any of them see any water other that perhaps a shower of dip in the pool.

The hands are in proportion with the dial; it's just that none of that is in proportion with the tank-like case, and I don't think they care! It was created to plumb the depths, not meander along Bond St.

With all respect, why not? for the same reason people bought the current sea dweller watch, they will end up buying it regardless if they use it to its full capabilities or not

Collectors will buy it since it is a technology wonder ...

You would think that Rolex, National Geographic, and the other sponsors would try to offer some merchandise after the event. Hats, books, magazine specials, etc. Very little out there and nothing from Rolex.
