Not afraid to wear it on any occasion. Sleeping, yes; and it's not uncomfortable to me. I used to shower a lot with my old DD, but then I noticed some soap scum buildup which was hard to remove. So now I don't shower with my daytona, but I do wash it when it gets dirty.

I don't get why some are afraid to wear a watch in certain situations. I have a watch on almost all of the time. I don't sleep or shower in it. I dot get how sleeping in a watch can be comfortable. When I fall asleep with it on I always wake up with red marks on my wrist. I usually don't wear it around the house but that's just because I have a habit of taking it off and putting it on my dresser when I get home. I take it off when I get to the golf course and put it in my locker because I hate playing in a watch, not because the watch couldn't take it or I'm afraid it would be damaged. They are just watches and made to be worn. I don't baby any of my possessions really. I spent a lot of $$$ on my boat and RV but I buy things to use them. I'm not saying I abuse those things but if they get a scratch or ding I don't lose sleep over it.

If you wake up with red marks on your wrist it means you're wearing your watch too tight. Our blood pressure lowers when sleeping and raises when awake. So your wrist expands slightly when sleeping and compresses while awake. And if you drink alcohol the night before your wrist will expand much more since alcohol causes bloating (this is why rings and watches feel tighter after a night of partying ).

Once I bought my first Rolex, I quickly got over the worry of scratching it. It was new, yet inexpensive by today's standards. When I traded it and the Air King on a GMT Master II I was a little worried about wearing a 40mm watch that seemed to have so much surface. But the reality is that Rolexes are tough, and are to be worn through anything. I recently did a light polish on the GMT Master II, removed the smallest scratches, and it looks gorgeous, better than when I bought it. I plan on wearing it for travel and sport and the new Explorer on a daily basis. Both are nice investments that will appreciate slowly in value over time, and can be serviced by an RSC to freshen them if needed. The nice thing is the watches will be around long after I am gone, they really are timeless!

Life is short, enjoy your Rolex the way you want!

At, lets say $8500.00 for a sub, it becomes more than "just a watch" in my opinion.

I don't blame an owner for being careful, me included, but we all get the most satisfaction by wearing and enjoying them!

I wear my watch all the time except for sleeping at night, I am known to leave it on my wrist when I take my afternoon nap on the sofa.

I don't wear it tight at all. It somehow gets pushed higher up on my arm (2-3 inches above my wrist) towards my elbow and that's where the marks come from. I hardly ever fall asleep with it on so it's not an issue.

A watch with no scratch is a watch worn by a boring person...

Correct! The word "water proof" does not mean forever. Rolex are no better than g shocks. They both have resin (rolex has gasket resin) plastic that cracks under pressure and due to wear and tear in time.

The more you take care of your watches, the more they will take care of you. But there is a fine line. These are expensive watches so naturally scrathes and damage needs to be prevented. I personally like my watches looking brand new. I hate scratches.
So everytime I put my Rollies on, I am keenly aware and make sure I don't rest my wrist on hard surfaces or bang it around ..... that's what g-shocks are for....

my mother wears her TT yachmaster 24/7 .... even when she is doing gardening ..... I cringe when her YM gets covered with soil as she plants the flowers but the amazing thing is that the TT still looks good .... somehow it appears that it has stopped getting worse visually ....amazing....I wish I could wear my watches like that but I just like my watches to look new. Differnt strokes for different folks...

I've been sleeping with a watch on since I was 7 years old. That's 23 years for you mathematicians out there, LOL

I have mainly vintage watches(non rolex), so i take them off if im going swimming, hiking, or doing any other things that i fear might damage them. But other than that, i pretty much wear them daily.

I take mine off for anything out of the ordinary. I even take them off to go in the shower. I've always worn my watch in bed since I was a kid, no problem at all. Parts of the area I live in are a bit rough and ready to say the least, plenty of muggings etc, I'm always careful to keep my watches out of sight under long sleeves when I'm in the pubs in town. When I'm out in the nearby big cities I'm not so cautious, plenty more Rolexes on display there.

i love wearing my rolex. evento the pool and the shower after that. just make sure crown is screwed tight.

my GMT2c had hairlines on the clasp and bracelet and god knows how those got there as i am a careful wearer :)

my Exp2 has a scratch on the bezel and i don't rem it landing there too :)

at the end of the day, i enjoy wearing all my watches. if i know i am gg to be in some rough activities then i leave it in the box and wear my uber-rugged Seiko divers. even my Seiko gets baby-ed :)

my dad's rolex is a scratch magnet and he don't give a damm too :) :)

life is short, wear and enjoy!

I used to think this way until a member here brought up a good point:

In an emergency situation where I needed to get out of the house ASAP, obviously my life and families life would be first priority, but if my watch is on my wrist, I wouldn't regret not snagging it on the way out into the Zombie Appoloypse.

Second, I always sleep with mine on in hotels. Heard horror stories of stolen watches and forgetting watches, so when I travel, it NEVER comes off.

Even though I have my watches insured, doesn't mean I don't look out for these things.

Sometimes, I just fall asleep with a watch on. No biggy either way.

I used to dive in an SD when I was diving ...

... but living two hours from the coast I gave it up because it became too much work and too little to see underwater. I still have an SD (newer one) and wear it everywhere even in the pool (GASP!!). I don't wear the Day-Date many places because my goal was to own this model and it took a LOT of saving to get me there. It is enough for me that I own it and flaunting it in public doesn't do anything for me. Heck for the most part I don't even "like" going out lol. Cheers -Ron

X2!!! This is a ridiculous post, quite clearly some people are born into too much privilege and 10k Rolex's mean nothing....but some of us have to work damn hard to buy them so yeah we give a sh## if they get scratched!!!

Wear the watch. Take it off put it in your pocket when you know your going to place your arm where your watch is going to get really beaten up badly. Other than that wear it and enjoy it.
