First time seller problems

Hi Guys i have been a part of this great forum for quite some time now and i love this place for the knowledge i have gained here and the members are nice and very helpful. What i want to know is that how can i start buying or selling watches as i am a first time seller here and guess everybody starts somewhere and every seller or dealer here were new at one point, are there any tips for a new seller like me so i can also be a part of this great marketplace as i don't have any references to help me sell or buy a watch as i understand that it i hard to trust a new guy as there are lots and lots of scammers out there to rip you off your hard earned money.

Mods please delete the post if you find it irrerelevant or if its in the wrong section.

I haven't sold anything here yet but if I were to, I would take crisp pictures showing all aspects of the watch - particularly any flaws or blemishes. I would describe it accurately and conservatively estimate the condition.

Finally I would price it lower than that of the same item sold by well established TRF sellers. You can't expect to command the same price as the most trusted sellers since there is more risk with unkown sellers.

Good luck.

Establish yourself online as a seller in some fashion somewhere (eBay e.g.), of items of some value, before trying to sell high-value watches. Without that, I seriously doubt you will get any buyer willing to chance sending thousands to a stranger devoid of verifiable references.

Buying is something different. I'm sure you can become a buyer if you observe standard terms of bank wire transfer with several good sellers here.

My first deal I sold a watch to a very reputable buyer. Sent him the watch first. He paid upon receiving. Got a solid reference out of it.

Aside from the lack of feedback is the need to understand the logistics of selling.
Can you take PayPal?
Do you have a bank account to accept wire transfers?
How will you handle fast turnarounds and overnight shipping + high levels of insurance?
Do you know all the rules of listing here?

Even if you get some eBay feedback these logistics differ since expectations are set by too notch trusted sellers here.

This is a good point to remember. And new sellers should be prepared to do the same. If you offer a good enough deal for one of the trusted members to accept, be prepared to trust them first.

As stated on here and other forums, buy the seller then the watch. If you have other ref's on other sites, state it even if it's Ebay. Yech! Can't believe I used that name in the same sentence. Just be upfront. Under no circumstance would I send a watch without funds first, it is after all, a business transaction.
