I'm currently torn between the classic Sea Dweller or GMT Master. I had a 14060M which I rather liked, but I ultimately couldn't go without a date. I like the classic look of the SD and I have always wanted one, but I'm concerned that it might be too big to wear often. While the GMT is more versatile as the bezels can be changed out and it's thinner, I still find myself going back to the SD.

What would you recommend?

The SD is virtually the same size as your old Sub. I believe it is only a tad thicker. It would not seem much bigger. I say go with the SD!!

If you like the look of the Sub sans cyclops, the SD is your winner. It can be worn daily from suit to sweats and tee on a NATO and vice versa. I seriously cannot recommend a better watch. It's like everything perfect about the 14060 and made MORE perfect with the added weight, deeper dive capabilities, and date. PLEASE go try one on and I think you'll agree. I have the "Sub Trifecta" (not my words) and the SD is the cherry on top. I will be honest and say that of I started with the SD I would've ended my Rolex fascination right then and there. Okay, maybe not BUT it's still a heck of a piece.

The Sea-Dweller has a cult following online, especially here on TRF. I say just listen to your inner voice and make the decision but do try them on as well. As much as I adore the pedigree and the design of the SD16600 it was never as comfortable on my wrist as my 16610, or any of my other Rolex watches for that matter.

Find a way to try them both on, then make up your mind.

Sounds like you love divers. Then go with the SD. It is plenty comfortable. That said it is really a tough call. The GMT II is just the perfect watch. I am fortunate to own them both as my only Rolexes.

SD is not that bulky at all(as opposed to DSSD). I find it extremely close in profile to 16610s
