Omega/Swatch wants to topple Rolex. That's cool! Capitalism right? From marketing to modern, snazzy designs. Omega fanbase add to the hype. Flood the market, create an Omega myth. They're gonna have to top last years latest and greatest with a new new model just to keep interests high. When Omega runs out of steam, Swatch now ravages Tissot.

Then there's Rolex. Perrenial.

The one way Omega could catch Rolex is to get rid of a lot of their lower-priced watches. They need to raise the "prestige" value of their brand. Although I do not have any personal experience with Omega, I would their watches are quite good. But there just isn't any cache with owning an Omega. That can change based on reducing the number of models and production numbers. I hate to say this, BUT, it's simply too easy to be able to afford an Omega versus a Rolex, and if that's true, then the "prestige" aspect of Omega falls.
