Link question on glide lock

This has come up on a couple of threads today but I need clarification. Can anyone tell me if there is any difference in having 5 full links plus the half link on the 12 o'clock side when you have the flexibility of the glide lock? Someone mentioned running 4 full + the 1/2 link instead, but for the life of me, I can't see what difference it would make. My clasp is already sitting more to the 12 o'clock side as it is and it seems that this would pull it even farther that way. Can someone who has experimented with this post up? Thanks!

Matt

Well hell. I've now tried a few configurations and they are all similar with no huge variances. I tried 3 1/2 on the 6 o'clock and it looked weird. I replaced the 5th full link at the 12 and left the 1/2 link. Now I have less glide lock expansion obviously, but also less play in the clasp. Lord!

They all pull to the outside of your wrist because the head is heavier than the rest of the mass.. It doesn't matter where you have the links..

It's physics, it's gravity, it's the law..

Because there are two different size bones in your fore-arm, when you rotate your arm to look at your watch the bones expand and cross over one another (pronation) and we are all a bit different, but the bottom line is that you should always have more links on the 12 side than you do on the 6 side... This also takes into account the extra link or two you need to extend into the clasp for adjustment etc..

Adjust is so it is most comfortable for you, not some formula that somebody else says is right...

Forget about all the "clasp centered" hogwash; and also forget about your watch head always being in the center of the back of your wrist when you turn it to look at the time - It just ain't going to happen..........

You are completely right. Thanks for the insight Larry. I've just resolved myself to be happy with my current setup. It works for me! Cheers.
