in this forums, if you want to be appreciated, get the commercial watch like rolex, panerai, ap and patek. they always stick to this brand.
to me, i like to explore other watch brand which is great. such as breguet, hublot, roger dubuis, they are great. i prefer buy gold hublot that cost 25k, rather than any stainless steel watch that cost 25k. my spoon and knife are also made by stainless steel. i dont care of brand, the most important thing is that i like the design. is the design connect my heart or not? so, in my opinion, if you really love hublot from your heart, BUY HUBLOT, forget other people. its YOU who wear the watch, its about YOUR HEAR. not the others! |

But I agree with you that everyone has to wear what he likes, so if someone gets a Hublot, be my guest, but opinions were asked and given.

Get what you like but personally not a Hublot fan.
I rarely say never but I don't think I would ever buy a Hublot. IMO a rather mediocre copy of the ROO design. Only handled one in person and was unimpressed with the finishing and kind of offended by how much Hublot has aped the ROO design language with so-so execution. |

Whenever somebody suggests Rolex, Patek, AP or Panerai (to name those only) you always say that they're biased, only go with the fancy name and don't go with what they like. Indeed, some people have preferences for specific brands but surely this isn't only because of the name, they have reasons to prefer a brand to another just like you do, why can you have such a preference and not others? Frankly I think it's getting tiring and I find it rather insulting that you would say that one has to like certain brands to be appreciated here, I've complimented (genuinely) people who had bought Timex's, Seiko's and whatever brands some people may find boring and cheap (it is not my opinion, obviously) and I've seen some of the most original watches around here that were from brands I had barely heard of before, not everybody blindly goes with this or that name and I think your generalization is out of line. This is, of course, my opinion only but I wonder why you always feel like you have to write such things about members here, why can't you just recommend to go with what people like instead of having to add a line or two against people on this very forum? You like to explore? Fair enough, others have other ways to shop for watches, live and let live...why is your opinion better than others'?

Like many suggested take a look at AP and VC, or even Patek. You might even want to venture out to other brands such as Zenith or JLC. I would not recommend Hublot for that kind of money...

I have zero interest in Hublot and think you would be crazy yes. If you do not like the Daytona any longer there are plenty of other more worthy pieces out there.

Yes, you're crazy, but SearChart had a more sane solution:
Yup. You'll take a bigtime hit on a Hublot vs an AP.

Resale value killer. I'm done buying hublot. Unless you buy it used and at the best price you can get.

Crazy to sell the Daytona? No.
Crazy to replace it with a Hublot? Probably.

Totally agree 100%
QUOTE=tavv160;4392221]I agree with the suggestion of looking at an AP. Much nicer, classier and better resale value than the Hublot. And that is the watch where Hublot got its inspiration from anyways (read: stole the design from). I am personally not a fan of Hublot, even though some of them are visually quite appealing, but the brand just does not appeal to me. To each its own I guess.[/QUOTE] |

You're not crazy.
I have done something similar recently and sold my Patek to buy a few watches with more "out there" designs and don't regret a thing. I used to hate Hublot until I tried on one of their classic models in an AD. The case work is excellent and to me this is important. If you like the look and the Daytona doesn't sing to you then do it. If you buy used you will take a much smaller hit on it so resale will still be slower than the Daytona but hopefully not too painful financially.

Go buy the new Hublot Unico 45mm.
in my opinion the design is better than any ap roo. just dont buy hublot with the snake skin strap, cuz i hate snake strap. i have both hublot and ap roo, both quality of the case and dial is fantastic. the strange thing is i tend to appreciate the finishing of hublot more. |
