Grrrrrrr, woof, woof

A Series 18248 - Not always a crowd pleaser but not something you see everyday either. I find it's a polarizing piece with more complements than criticism.

I've wondered that myself. De-barking or muzzling the bark a little by adding a plain bracelet would be interesting. I actually considered a Rolex OEM croc strap with Rolex tang buckle when I was at the NY RSC a few weeks ago (they offer both at a fairly "reasonable" price). I think it would also be a nice alternative to the bracelet for those times when you're not looking to light up the room. Also, a lot more affordable than a second 18K bracelet.

yep , been looking at buying a dd and barks can be had at reasonable ish money , with no bracelet , id add a bracelet later when funds permit , so i thought about adding a plain bracelet , i hink the combo would work , they did a bark with a stunning brown dial , sounds odd , but looks really nice.

Brown Dial - yes

Yes, the barks can be had for a reasonable price, especially w/o the bracelet. There are so many dial options for the DD and a few that match really well with the bark bezel (and bracelet). I've seen and really like the brown you referenced, definitely a unique option. Another favorite are the wood dials, which are (IMHO) really interesting and vintage looking. There's also the rarer, more elusive petrified wood dial. A good option to one-up your friends that have the ordinary wood dials on their DDs or DJs. The pyramid, tuxedo, "thin" roman and stella dials are all also very unique looking and a good option if you can find them on the secondary market.

Again, the beauty of the DD is its versatility. With the many different dial, bracelet and strap options you've got a great choice of looks that can add to the watch's versatility and appeal. I have a friend who has 6-7 different DD dials, bracelet, Rolex lizard and croc straps. He switches it up every few months and it's like getting a new watch each time he does. Not many other watches you can do this with.

I say go for it if you can find something reasonable to start with. Not having a complete watch allows you to experiment with a variety of different options without impacting the integrity of a complete watch.

Some beautiful watches. My father's gold Day-Date was the first mechanical watch I was exposed to back when I was very young. Hes had it for 40 years now. A timeless design. Hope to see more from this thread.
